Commemorating the closing of a 100 years of the legendary K.D. Singh (Babu), a grand event was organised in Barabanki on Tuesday. Revered Mr. C.P. Chand graced the evening and felicilated ex Olympic champions with the ‘Khel Ratna’ awards. The event also entailed a beautiful story telling session by Mr. Himanshu Bajpai who’s renowned in his field for his prowess.

The inauguration was marked by the chief guest Mr. C.P. Chand adorning K.D. Singh’s portrait with a beautiful garland and lighting the auspicious lamp. He then gave a wonderful speech about the aura of Mr. Singh and how his greatness couldn’t just be limited to hockey and transcends beyond that. Best known for his stunning dribbling skills, K.D. Babu contributed largely to the field of hockey by playing his role as a coach, helping establish an academy for young players and motivating talent in the right direction. His tremendous contribution to the field was celebrated by honouring ex Olympic champions with the prestigious ‘Khel Ratna’ awards. The eminent athletes were felicitated by Kunwar Dhirendra Singh, son of Mr. K.D. Singh and by Mr. C.P. Chand.
The event was a magnificent success.

We feel proud to have such energetic and enthusiastic Chief Minister of U.P, honorable Shri ji.

This was during the the closing ceremony of U-14 Hockey Tournament held in Lucknow recently and was organized by the K.D.Singh Babu Memorial Society to commemorate 100 years of the hockey wizard 'Babu' himself.

We hope every single youth takes inspiration from our athletes and leaders and help to shape much better India.

It was a great moment for Babu’s family where the honorable CM of U.P.- Shri Yogi Adityanath Ji graced us with his presence for the U-14 Hockey Tournament’s closing ceremony at Lucknow. The tournament was organized by the K.D. Singh Babu Memorial Society in honour of the the Indian hockey wizard, Babu himself.

With a participation of 16 teams from across the country, the closing ceremony was concluded by awarding the winners with cash prizes of 5, 3, 2 & 1 lac rupees for the winning team and the second, third and fourth place holders respectively.

As a token of gratitude, Yogi Ji was presented with a memento by family members of K.D. Singh ‘Babu’. The memento was an exquisite frame with metal engravings of Babu holding his medal, replicas of the Olympic gold medals he bagged for India and a replica of Helms World Trophy along with a message commemorating 100 years of Babu.

During his speech,Yogi ji applauded the participants and encouraged our youngsters to start playing sports from an early age. He further mentioned how he was overwhelmed by seeing such an amazing tribute offered to late K.D. Singh ‘Babu’.

वर्ष 1952 के ओलंपिक खेल में भारतीय हॉकी टीम ने गोल्ड मेडल जीता था। उस वक्त टीम के कप्तान स्वर्गीय के. डी. सिंह 'बाबू' जी थे।

हम सबको अपनी इन विभूतियों के ऊपर गौरव की अनुभूति होनी चाहिए।

अखिल भारतीय के.डी. सिंह 'बाबू' सब जूनियर हॉकी प्रतियोगिता के समापन समारोह के अवसर पर आज खेल का उत्कृष्ट प्रदर्शन देखने को मिला है।

हमारे होनहार खिलाड़ी जब अच्छा प्रदर्शन करते हैं, तब उन महानुभावों की आत्मा अत्यंत प्रफुल्लित होती होगी, जिनकी स्मृति में ऐसे आयोजन होते हैं।

हॉकी पर हम सभी को गौरव की अनुभूति होनी चाहिए।

इसके लिए जितने भी प्रयास हो सकें, हमें करने चाहिए, क्योंकि उत्तर प्रदेश हॉकी की 'आधारभूमि' रही है।

हॉकी के जादूगर मेजर ध्यानचंद जी, के.डी. सिंह 'बाबू' सहित अनेक खिलाड़ियों ने पूरी दुनिया में भारत के गौरव को बढ़ाने का कार्य किया है।
