🇷🇺 Murmansk (Arctic Circle Special Feature) has introduced the “Polar Tide Energy Grid”!
This is a next-generation distributed energy system that combines a total of 700kW of underwater turbines and a smart energy storage network, utilizing Arctic Ocean tides and under-ice sea currents. Turbines installed along coastal areas and fjords continuously convert the constant movement of the sea into electricity, supplying clean energy to approximately 380 households. 🌊⚡❄️
With ice-resistant engineering and AI-based control systems that maintain efficiency even in freezing underwater conditions, it covers about 26% of winter electricity demand. In addition, it reduces over 1,400 tons of CO₂ emissions annually, helping preserve the beauty of the quiet Arctic seas and night skies.
