Prmatam ki Mouj - Gatka Academy The Gatka you see now a days is shadow of it's former self. Back in the day, Gatka was known as Shas The Gatka you see nowadays is shadow of it's former self.

Back in the day, Gatka was known as Shastar Vidya. It was influenced by the Rajputs, who were in turn influenced by the Kalaripayattu practitioners of Southern India. Gatka is now nothing more than a ritual, the result of the oppression that the British Raj enforced onto the Sikh Nihangs. The original art, however, has not been lost. Shastar Vidya is still being practiced in Punjab.
