Could Leinster Snooker be ready for something new?
Over the past number of years, many great players across Leinster have drifted away from competitive snooker; some are playing other cue sports, others just don't pick up their cue anymore — while newer players often struggle to find events to test themselves in.
What if that were to change?
There are plans progressing to host a brand-new event:
🏆 **The Leinster Snooker Open**
The idea is to build a tournament that:
✅ Brings players back to the game
✅ Gives club players something meaningful to compete for
✅ Involves snooker clubs across all 12 counties in Leinster
✅ Creates a major finals “Snooker Festival Weekend” atmosphere
✅ Depending on entry numbers total prize funds of €5,000
✅ The winner's prize is projected to start at €2,000 and targeted to triple across a 4-year period
The vision would see early rounds played locally in participating clubs, leading to a showcase finals weekend in a selected hotel venue.
Before this moves forward any further, we want to hear from the snooker community across Leinster — players, clubs, former players and snooker supporters.
A poll will be circulated shortly to gauge interest from players in each county.
If this is something you’d like to see happen in latter part of 2026, keep an eye out for the poll in the coming days and please indicate if you'd participate.
