The lads played the first half against a stiff breeze and a determined Ballyduff. A miscommunication at the back saw us one nil down after 10 minutes but the lads showed tremendous grit for the rest of the half. We knew we'd be better in 2nd half and so we were, creating numerous chances. The breakthrough came from Max cross to Alex, neat finish. Benny put us in the lead when he pounced on a loose ball. In truth, all the lads worked tirelessly and were magnificent, however MOTM goes to birthday boy and captain, Beau who didn't put a foot wrong all game. Thanks to ref and Ballyduff for a great game. Well done lads, we go again Thursday.

We were back in action for our 3rd game in 5 days in a late Monday night kick-off.

We started slowly with our visitors getting an early goal and we certainly needed Ewan's brilliance on goal as St. Joseph's put us under increasing pressure in the first 15 minutes.

We got back in the game with Hope and Hugh getting on the scoresheet before James Hearne, Jayden and Aaron got us back in the game with some lovely goals tonight.

The second half was close with St. Joseph's nicking a goal before Aaron scored another long-range drive to finish the game.

A very competitive game with both teams really working hard so well done to all ans thanks to all who supported the team in this late game.

Villa welcomed DLS to Worklab Connors Park on a wet Monday evening, with the boys making a bright start and taking the game to their opponents from the off.

Despite the conditions, the pitch was in fantastic shape and allowed the boys to play some crisp, attractive football. Throughout the match, they continued to play in the right manner, producing some excellent passages of team play.

Finn Hoban and Conor Lambe both grabbed braces, while Odhran Power added a brilliant long-range free kick. There was also a very special moment for Lee Rooney, who found the net for his first competitive goal.

A special mention to the DLS goalkeeper, who produced a string of fantastic saves.

Many thanks to the referee for a well-officiated match and to DLS for a sporting and competitive game.

Awfully sad news yesterday evening of the passing of Allen Troy after a brave battle with illness.

Allen was a hugely popular player and coach within the club. He was a brilliant Schoolboy player with the club back in the late 1980s. Life and career took him to Ennis, where he settled and had his family. Allen returned to Waterford a number of years back and immediately reconnected with Villa. He was an excellent coach and never lost his love of playing, becoming a stalwart of our 4th division team. Amazingly he kept playing throughout much of his treatment, showing how much it meant to him.

Above all Allen was a true gentleman, he always had time for a chat and friendly word with everyone and that smile was never far from his face.

Sincere condolences to his son Luke who has carried on the family tradition of playing and coaching with Villa, his wife Tracy, daughter Zoe and his wider family.

A great one taken too soon. RIP Allen

Girls U14C League

Portlaw 2 Villa B 1

There was some great football played out in Portlaw this morning, a very competitive game from start to finish. After Villa taking the lead in the first half, Portlaw equalised shortly before half time leaving it all to play for in the 2nd half. Both teams came out fighting, and chances were created at both ends, with Portlaw getting though to clinch the winner in the dying minutes. The girls never gave up, played some lovely football, and can be very proud of their performance today.

Thanks to Portlaw for a great game, to the ref for letting the game flow and to the parents for their support!

Not the start to the season we wanted but couldn’t fault our young team today for effort, passion and some great football.

We lost Hannah in goal after 15 mins who came out to win a ball she had no right to win but took a bad bang to the foot. Everyone is wishing Hannah a speedy recovery.

Well done to Dungarvan who played a great game and we wish them well for the remainder of the season.
Special mention to both Sage and Rebecca who went in goals and to our u12 player Orlaith who ended up playing most of the match after playing this morning as well.

The Villa girls u12b got their league campaign underway today at Conors Park. While the result was disappointing, loosing 4 1 to a strong Mooncoin team, the performance from each and every player in a Villa jersey was outstanding. The running, effort and commitment by the team was fantastic to see and I hope they are all very proud of themselves. With this level of performance this team is going to have a great season.
