U12A Cup Final

Villa u12b 0
Dungarvan U12a 2

Our amazing cup run came to an end at the final hurdle against a more experienced and well drilled Dungarvan team.

Our girls did themselves proud and defended resolutely throughout. We went in at the break 0-0, restricting Dungarvan to half chances. We went behind to a stunning free kick early in the second half. Unfortunately It was not to be our day, despite our best efforts we conceded again late in the half to seal the win for Dungarvan.

There was no shame losing to this Dungarvan team who were worthy winners on the day. Our squad of 11 today contained 2 u10's, 6 u11's and only 3 u12's.

There will be plenty of success in the future for this talented group who although disappointed were rightly proud of there amazing efforts.

Thanks to the league for putting on a great showpiece of girls football & of course to all the parents & supporters for shouting the girls on right to the final whistle.

We will bounce back 💪

FAI Junior Cup Round 6
Villa FC 0-1 Trim Celtic

FAI Junior Cup heartbreak for our lads this afternoon as we bowed out in Round 6, a 1-0 loss to an extremely resilient Trim Celtic side.

On pitch, this was remarkably our first home loss in all competitions since January 2020, a phenomenal record of games over the past 6 and a half years.

Controlling possession for the duration of the game, we didn’t play with the required urgency to break down our opponents enough and when we did, we lacked that final quality to convert chances.

Trim scored from a header from a free kick with in the 83rd minute and while we had plenty of opportunities to equalise the goal didn’t come.

Congratulations to Trim on the win and best of luck for the remainder of the competition

Thanks to all club members for their support today as always.

Very warm conditions for our first round cup tie away to Carrick on Saturday. The lads produced another excellent performance to progress to the cup quarter finals. The team scored some terrific goals as they have done all season but special mention has to go to our outstanding goalkeeper Jack Donnelly. He kept his 13th clean sheet of the season between league and cup 👏 What a player!

U13D Cup Final
Ballinroad 1 Villa 2

A hard fought win in warm weather was enough to see us win our 2nd trophy of the season. A great display in the first half saw us going into the break 2 nil up thanks to goals from Darragh and Alex.

We came out for the second half guns blazing but unfortunately was to no avail. Plenty of chances were missed but that’s football. Ballinroad were physical in tackles and some great play from them ended with them scoring making it 2-1. A very nervy last 10 minutes was in store. The lads battled as hard as they could and came out as winners against a very strong and well drilled Ballinroad side.

To win the league and the cup is something special and is a reward for how hard they worked throughout the season. They are a super bunch of lads to work with and watching them grow into better players and also a super footballing side has been nothing short of something special.

Thanks to all the parents, families and club members who came out this evening and all season. 🟢⚪️🟢⚪️

U13C Cup Final

Kilmacow 0 - Villa 5

We battled our way into the cup final which was no easy task with the opening game v Ballyduff ending 5-4 . We then went into the 1/4 against DLS which we won 2-1 . Our semi final was against Ferrybank 4-2 to get us a spot in the cup final against Leauge winners Kilmacow .

This was a rematch from the League as we finished second for the league # title behind Kilmacow chasing them all the way to the very last game .

The cup final started in our favour with scoring early in the first half . Both teams battled for dominance on the field but Villa seem to come out stronger on each push . Second half started with a slight wind behind us we pushed the Kilmacow lines hard and eventually broke through to put us 2-0 . Shortly after we got another and others to finish at 5-0 . Credit to kilmacow they tried to push back but our full back line was not to be trifled with . Very proud moment for this team today to take back the reigns and have a fantastic year in the u13C league and cup .

Villas players of the day was Nathan Clancy . Jeremiah Johnson and Yaseen Elmahi who along with the rest of the team defeated Kilmacow to be crowned cup winners

Ps happy birthday Nathan

U12A League play off final

Villa 4 Carrick 1

Sponsors Kilbarry SuperValu Germar Electric

Brilliant performance from the lads against a tough Carrick side saw us clinch the League on Thursday night in Tramore.

First half goals from Luke Nevin & Oscar Prendergast saw us take control of the game. A brilliant free kick from Jack Flynn extended our lead in the second half, before Carrick pulled a goal back. Jack Cunningham rounded off the scoring to give us the victory and title that the lads efforts over the season richly deserved.

Well done to all the squad and management and thanks to the big crowd of supporters who came out to cheer the boys on.

So back to back league Champions. 🏆 🏆

14C Cup Semi Final

Villa looked to book their place in the cup final against a very strong Hibs side, with a couple of key absences maybe proving decisive in the end.

The lads started brilliantly and controlled the game from the outset. Their reward came after 15 minutes when James unleashed a fantastic strike to put Villa ahead. Chances continued to come, but some excellent goalkeeping and a lack of fortune in front of goal meant the lead remained at 1-0 at the break.

The second half was fiercely contested, with both teams giving everything. Villa doubled their advantage through Gleidson after some excellent work, and there were further opportunities to put the game beyond doubt.

Time and again the woodwork, the Hibs goalkeeper and some rushed finishing denied the boys.

With seven minutes remaining, the game turned dramatically. Hibs capitalised on one of the many free kicks they had to scramble home from close range and, while Villa were still regrouping, they struck again down the right to level the game at 2-2.

To their credit, the boys responded positively and pushed hard for a winner, creating further chances only to be denied once more by some outstanding goalkeeping.

In heartbreaking fashion, the match was ultimately decided in the third minute of stoppage time. A free kick was awarded after the Villa goalkeeper was adjudged to have stepped outside his area before kicking the ball, and Hibs made no mistake with the resulting effort.

It was a hugely disappointing end to what has been a very good season for this group.

Congratulations to Hibs, and we wish them the very best against Southend in the final.

A huge thank you, as always, to the parents for their fantastic support throughout the year. The boys can be immensely proud of the progress and development they have shown over the course of the season, and while tonight's ending hurts, there is plenty for this group to look back on with pride.
