Friendships made through football.

One of the highlights of this year’s tournament was welcoming Gallia Club Lucciana to Waterford.

What started as just another game at a tournament in France last year grew into a genuine friendship between our two clubs, and ultimately led to Gallia Club Lucciana making the journey to Ireland for the first Michael Grant Memorial Tournament.

Everyone at St Josephs AFC Waterford. would like to sincerely thank Michael Monti, everyone at Gallia Club Lucciana, and all the parents and families who put their trust in us by travelling to Waterford.

We know the significant financial commitment, planning and logistics involved in bringing a team overseas, and we truly appreciate the effort that went into making the trip possible.

We hope that Ireland, Waterford and everyone at St Josephs AFC Waterford helped create an experience and memories that will stay with the kids for a very long time.

You were a pleasure to host and an absolute pleasure to watch throughout the tournament.

Gallia Club Lucciana will forever hold a special place in our tournament’s history as the very first international club to take part in the Michael Grant Memorial Tournament.

A heartfelt thank you to James Falconer Chauffeur Hire for the outstanding support they provided throughout the inaugural Michael Grant International Memorial Tournament.

From the moment our visiting French club arrived in Waterford on Thursday, right through until the tournament came to a close and the gates closed at 6:30pm on Saturday, James and his team looked after every aspect of our transport logistics with professionalism, reliability and genuine care.

Their role wasn’t about transporting hundreds of people.

It was about ensuring our guests from France were looked after every step of the way.

James and his team safely transported our visiting French players, coaches and officials between their hotel and Williamstown Sports Complex throughout their stay, ensuring they always arrived on time, travelled in comfort and experienced the warm Waterford welcome that St Joseph’s AFC is so proud to provide.

Nothing was ever too much trouble.

Every journey was carried out with professionalism, flexibility and a smile, allowing us to concentrate on delivering a memorable tournament while knowing our international guests were in the very best hands.

Their commitment played a huge part in creating a seamless experience for our visiting club and helped make the tournament a wonderful occasion for everyone involved.

Michael Grant Memorial Tournament 2026

Last weekend our mini Seagulls took part in a memorial competition for the late Michael Grant of St Josephs. Michael who also had a couple of season playing in Tramore was a fantastic committed player and it was great to see so many young kids loving their football on Saturday !

A huge thanks to the organisers and St Josephs for such a well run day, to the other teams and their players who played with great spirit and to the referees who without we would have no football. We are already looking forward to next year

From everyone at St Joseph’s AFC and Michael’s Family, we want to say a huge thank you to Sean O’Neill – AKA DJ Nailer.

Sean very kindly provided the PA system for the morning before taking to the decks and absolutely rocking the socks off everyone for the entire day.

From the moment the first teams arrived until the final whistle, Sean created an incredible atmosphere that brought the whole tournament to life. His music kept the energy high, the smiles wide and the celebrations going all day long.

One of the greatest sights of the tournament was watching so many children not only showing their skills on the football pitch, but also showing off their dance moves off it! Players, parents, coaches, volunteers and supporters all found themselves singing, clapping and dancing along to the music.

Sean’s enthusiasm, professionalism and unbelievable energy added something truly special to the inaugural Michael Grant International Memorial Tournament. His music became the soundtrack to a day that will live long in the memories of everyone who attended.

Events like this are made special by people who quietly give their time and talents to help others, and Sean did exactly that.
