Well done lads !!! 💪
Congratulations to our minors who made it three wins in a row as they staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Mountmellick Parish Gaels in Annanough last night by 1-17 to 3-8.
Playing against a stiff wind in the first half, the lads were excellent for 25 minutes. Braces from Ryan Conlon and Thomas Tynan as well as a point from Callum Devoy and a stunning penalty save from Jack Loughman had them 0-5 to 0-3 up at that stage.
But MPG finished the half strongly with two goals to lead 2-4 to 0-5 at the interval.
A brace from wing back Paddy Bowe and two frees from Devoy cut into the MPG lead when play resumed.
But a fortuitous goal for the visitors saw them move five points clear again as we entered the final ten minutes.
Devoy hit back with a crucial two point free and then sub Killian Hendy cut the gap to two.
With the game heading for injury time, great work by Darragh Hyland and Jake Murray saw them turn MPG over with Tynan delivering a long ball that was flicked on by Hendy into the path of Adam McDonald and he buried a shot into the top corner.
James Lynch won the next kickout and set up Sean Hogan to point before Darragh O’Riordan made the victory safe with the final kick.
The lads continue their league campaign at home to Barrow Gaels on May 25. Well done to all 🟢🔴🔵
