AFC Stamullen AFC Stamullen are a growing club playing in the AFL. Players, sponsors or anyone else looking to get involved, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

Since the dawn of the new millennium, there was always interest in having a club in the Stamullen village. Exhibition matches were held over the course of each summer, as a group of us would arrange matches with all the workers up in Clarkes who come from Latvia, Romania, Ukraine and Poland. These games got bigger each year. 2000 and 2001 were only mock matches, but it was the 2002 matches when th

ings got a little more serious. These games continued on and off until 2006. Then in 2008 a few teams from the Balbriggan and Naul area were set up to challenge us even more, which lead us to call ourselves “The Stamullen Football Club Project.” The aim was to see if we had enough people to set up a proper club in the village. It never materialised. However, in the summer of 2011, Con O’Brien and his brother Eoin, took it upon themselves to put a team together around the village, which would see Stamullen have it’s 1st senior team in over 25 years. They called themselves Stamullen Harps. As the season went on, some people came and left, but the core few remained. We ended up losing the league by 1 point and gained promotion as a consolation, under manager Richie Johnsen . The 2012/13 season kicked off with a name change –Stamullen AFC. The “A” standing for Athletic. Stamullen continued to build and rise on the pitch, as Richie Johnsen, with the help of coaches Barry McAuley and Karl Nolan, managed his side to another titanic tussle for league glory, which ended in being runners-up again, as we lost the title by two points and a semi-final of a league cup to boot.

2013/14 was a funny old season. Blessed with possibly THE strongest team we had in the 3 years of existence, Stamullen finished mid table in the top Premier division of the AFL. In the close season, some players moved on to pastures new and manager Richie Johnsen stepped down. Stamullen, as a club, embarked on an impossible task of replacing Johnsen. When all hope was lost, enter Martin Gormley. As August approached and no pre-season started, Gormley, with, arguably, the shortest pre-season on record, put together a squad that is more than capable to challenge the AFL League on Sunday. With an unlucky start, we got our act together and began a decent run of form. Gormley, due to work commitments had to step down as manager. Club Captain, Dunphy, Vice Captain, Tolan and centre-half powerhouse, Kelly, stepped up into the management side of things and got Stamullen on a great run of form. Sadly we lost on penalties in the last 16 of the Amateur Cup and lost in the semi-Final of the Loftus Cup. Our league position was not strong going into 2015, but we regained pride and finished off the season stronger. WHAT A SEASON 2015/16 was! League Champions by 5 points. Tuesday 24th May 2016 will forever be etched in the history of AFC Stamullen, when it was the evening we won the league!! Goals coming from Young Player of the year Belton and a hat-trick from Players' Player and Captain Dunphy, beat Chanel SSC 4-1 in Gormanston and confirmed our status as LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!! The Crest: The crown is a Papal Tiara worn by our Parish patron saint Patrick. The eagle represents power. It's a symbol of spirit, vision and strength. The Red background is paying homage to our first kit colours which we wore when we played our first competitive league match -v- JK Celtic in September 2011
