To honour all who participated, organised and attended the 1st All Ireland Poc Fada final on Anneverna Mountain we are reposting a video from 2010 (in the run up to the 2011 50th anniversary) It's a pity that the GAA Poc Fada page never even considered 1961- 2021 anniversary as relevant to the 2021 proceedings - nor 1981 when the All Ireland was revived when star Pat Hartigan took the honours - such a shame given the page is using the hash tag - we'll continue with - video details below...
"An tAthair" Fr. Pól Mac Seáin has provided us with an historic visual record of the First All Ireland Final in 1961 in the form of a 8mm movie. Incidently 1961 was the year that RTE began televising Gaelic Games. The film was converted to video in the late '90s (when the music and voice over were added). Video © Eamonn Callan

What a great documentary on Hurling broadcast on on Monday evening - "The Game" - Great to see the All Ireland Finals featuring and the timing couldn't have been better with the event taking place this Saturday 4th August commencing at 11.30am - hopefully we'll see you there.

Two champions for sure!! When all others left the mountain it was Mat from the Carlingford Adventure Centre and SkyPark Carlingford who was there right to the end - A huge thanks to Mat and a perpetual "Thank you" to Tom McArdle for your continued support all the way from 1961 when you were a garsún! Poc Fada na hÉireann surprised Damien Callan a life long advocate for the Poc Fada with the Poc Fada Hall of Fame award. Damian is the 3rd recipient of the prestigious Poc Fada Hall of Fame award and joins Ger Cunningham of Cork and Michael Shaughnessy of Galway in the Hall of Fame.

Poc Fada- 4x4 Thank You

The National Committee of Poc Fada na hÉireann would like to apologise to Tom McArdle of https://www.facebook.com/CarlingfordAdventure/ for forgetting to mention him in our 4x4 post on Friday night.

Tom has been a good friend to the All-Ireland Poc Fada event over the last number of years where his 4x4’s have been of great help.

Not only did Tom spend most of his day transporting people up and down the mountain for the event but he has also gone out of his way to provide his vehicles for the assembly and disassembly of the tents.

For his invaluable help both the National Committee & the Local Committee of Poc Fada na hÉireann would like to extend our heartfelt thanks.
