Galway Co. Council promoted the ‘Cycle Right’ Training Course in all national schools in Co. Galway, for the school year 2023/ 2024. A total of 592 pupils undertook the training. The course is the National Standard for Cycle Safety Training in Ireland and is delivered by qualified trainers from the national register.
The course includes practical work outdoors covering cycling skills, safe cycling techniques, road safety, helmet wearing and correct fit, proper clothing, bike maintenance, tuition on correct positioning on the road including entering and exiting junctions, straight line cycling, shoulder checking and signalling, all of which will prove to be invaluable to the young cyclists in the future.
