2027 INTERNATIONAL QUALIFIERS — PLANNING HAS STARTED

We’re now planning Ireland’s qualification pathway for the 2027 international season.

Irish athletes will have the opportunity to qualify across:

⚡ 100M
🔥 400M
🏃 SHORT COURSE
🏔️ STANDARD COURSE

for the:

UIPM Obstacle Racing European Championships
🇪🇪 Tartu, Estonia
30 June – 4 July 2027

and

UIPM Obstacle World Championships
🇨🇳 Beijing, China
2027 (exact date TBC)

We expect our usual OCRA ÉIREANN qualifier format to remain the main Irish qualification route, with full criteria, categories, dates and qualification positions published ahead of registration.

However, we would also like to explore whether we can create additional qualification opportunities around Ireland.

We’d love to hear from:

🏟️ OCR gyms and training facilities
💪 Gyms with suitable obstacle facilities
🤝 OCR clubs and training groups
🏁 Existing OCR and obstacle race organisers

If you think your facility or event could potentially support an OCRA ÉIREANN qualification event, get in touch.

At this stage, we are simply looking for expressions of interest. Additional qualification events will only be added where the course, obstacles, timing, officiating and competition standards are suitable.

FOR ATHLETES

There’s nothing you need to do yet.

We’ll publish the full 2027 qualification criteria, dates and qualifier calendar once planning is complete and the relevant championship requirements have been confirmed.

The road to Estonia and China starts here.

We have something exciting to share with you! 👀

OCRA Ireland is getting a NEW LOOK! 🇮🇪

We’re excited to introduce our new OCRA Ireland logo, a fresh, modern identity for the next chapter of our OCR community.

🌱 New look. Same passion.
🏃 Same sport. Same community.
🇮🇪 One OCRA Ireland.

And don’t worry, the current OCRA Ireland kit is still completely valid. The new logo does not mean you need to replace your existing kit.

But the new logo isn’t the only thing that’s changed… 👀

🌐 Our brand-new OCRA Ireland website is now LIVE!

We’ve completely refreshed the website around our new identity, making it cleaner, easier to navigate and ready for everything we have planned for the future.

A huge thank you to Emmett Daly for all the time, effort and hard work he put into building the new website and helping us get it over the line. It’s been a serious amount of work behind the scenes, and we really appreciate it. 🙌🇮🇪

This is more than just a new logo and a new website. It’s the start of the next chapter for OCRA Ireland, and there’s plenty more coming. 🔥

Have a look around the new website and let us know what you think of the new look! 👇

🔥 Loved the Low to High Rig, Tarzan Swing or OCRA Ireland Rig? Now you can train on them.

We saw loads of posts and messages after the competition from athletes who were absolutely buzzing about getting through these obstacles, so we had a chat with Officine del Grip.

They’ve agreed to give the OCR community 15% OFF the grips and attachments used on the course.

Use code: IRELAND15

These are not just grips that look like competition equipment. These are the same type of attachments that were put through a serious test during the event.

Thousands of hands went through them across the competition, yet by the end of the weekend you could barely tell the heavily used grips from the fresh ones. They are built from seriously durable material, designed for repeated OCR training and competition-level use.

And something you might not know: Officine del Grip supplied those attachments for the event free of charge, simply to help us give athletes the best possible obstacle experience.

Now you can bring that experience into your own training.

✅ Train on competition-style grips
✅ Build technique before race day
✅ Improve grip strength and efficiency
✅ Get comfortable with the movements before they appear in competition
✅ Built to take a serious amount of abuse

There is only a limited quantity available, so if you want them, don’t leave it sitting in the shopping basket for three weeks while pretending you’re “thinking about it.” 😅

Get ready now, so the next time you hit the rig, it isn’t the first time your hands have seen it.

15% OFF with code IRELAND15

OCR CLUBS — LET’S CONNECT 🇮🇪

We know there are OCR clubs, teams and training communities across Ireland that we haven’t discovered yet.

Maybe you’re an established OCR club.
Maybe you’re a small training group.
Maybe there are just two of you training together.

We want to hear from you.

OCRA Ireland wants to connect with OCR communities across the country, support existing clubs and help new groups grow.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO:

🤝 Connect with OCR clubs, teams and communities
📣 Share your club and help promote OCR across Ireland
💬 Exchange ideas, knowledge and experience
🏆 Work together on future competitions and events
🌱 Support new and growing OCR groups
🇮🇪 Build a stronger OCR community across Ireland

You don’t need to be a big club.
You don’t even need to have a formal club structure.

If you are training, competing or simply passionate about OCR — we want to know about you.

🇮🇪 WE’RE LOOKING FOR 2–3 VOLUNTEERS TO HELP GROW OCR IN IRELAND

OCRA Ireland is putting together a new Club Development Team, and we’re looking for people who are passionate about OCR and want to help bring the Irish OCR community together.

Interest in our sport is growing. More and more people are asking us:

“Where can I train?”
“Is there an OCR club near me?”
“How can we start something in our area?”

We want to turn those individual conversations into new connections, training groups, clubs and opportunities across Ireland.

As part of the Club Development Team, you could help:

• Connect OCR athletes and potential organisers in the same area
• Support existing clubs and training groups
• Help new OCR groups get started
• Build relationships with gyms and training facilities
• Identify areas where there is demand for OCR
• Work with our social media team on regional recruitment campaigns
• Help create a stronger national network of OCR clubs and communities

You don’t need experience in sports administration.

We’re looking for people who love OCR, enjoy connecting people, are willing to take initiative, and genuinely want to see the sport grow.

The work will be shared between 2–3 volunteers, mostly remotely and flexibly around your existing commitments.

🟢 Help us build the next chapter of OCR in Ireland.
