As Mens Captain of Spanish Point Golf Club, I am delighted to announce that we will be hosting a Charity Golf Day on Saturday, 3rd October, in aid of Irish Blind Golf.
The inspiration for this event came following a golf trip to Portugal earlier this year, where many of our members had the pleasure of spending time with Patrick Morgan and his family. I had the privilege of playing golf alongside Patrick and his father, and it is difficult to put into words just how inspiring they are. Patrick's determination, positivity, and passion for golf are truly remarkable. What he and other blind golfers achieve on the golf course has to be seen to be believed.
Patrick is a sports journalist, podcast host, and an ambassador for Irish blind golf. During our conversations, he spoke about the challenges involved in raising awareness and funding for Irish Blind Golf, which supports golfers who proudly represent Ireland at competitions both at home and internationally.
Having seen first-hand the incredible work being done and the dedication of those involved, we felt it was important to do something to help. As a club, we are proud to support this wonderful organisation and hope to raise much-needed funds to assist with travel, training, and competition expenses for Ireland's blind golfers.
We are also extremely grateful to our main event sponsor, the Health Services Credit Union, for their generous support. Their contribution and commitment to community initiatives such as this are greatly appreciated and will help make the day a success.
We would greatly appreciate the support of our members, visitors, sponsors, and the wider community in making this event a success.
Thank you for your support.
