It's been another busy week for our Senior Club, with members taking part in events across the country and delivering some super performances along the way.

Tuesday marked the final event in this year's Galway 5km series, after six weeks of excellent racing around the county. A sweltering evening provided a tough final test for all involved, but we were well looked after by both the organisers, Craughwell AC Senior , and the residents along the route. A special thank you to everyone for the much-needed hydration and well done to all who took part in the series.

On Friday, club members travelled to the Headfest 8k Road Race - another fantastic event organised by Headford Harriers as part of the bank-holiday weekend festival. Aidan Connaughton claimed 1st place in the O40 category, while Team CRH secured an impressive 2nd place finish.

Saturday saw Brendan Ruane take on the Western Yards Backyard Ultra - Connacht, in Kilcornan Woods, where he clocked a hugely impressive 74km in the demanding endurance event.

Sunday was another busy day, with members competing in both the VHI Women's Mini Marathon and the Cork City Half Marathon. In Dublin, Bláithín O'Brien completed her 29th Women's Mini Marathon — a remarkable achievement. Meanwhile, in Cork, Alan Carroll smashed the 90-minute barrier in the National Half Marathon with a superb performance, a reward that followed months of dedicated training and hard work.

Meanwhile our usual training runs for all club members continued, offering plenty of support and encouragement for those looking to keep up their fitness or train for upcoming events. If you are interested in joining us we would love to meet you - please reach out!

Congratulations to all of our club members on their achievements this week. 🔴⚫️

County Sports 🥳🥳.

The past two days have brought such enjoyment to our CRH juvenile athletes as many competed in the County Sports in Craughwell.

This new venue proved to be a winner with all running smoothly and many thanks to the all involved in hosting this years event.

All our athletes had great fun competing for their respective schools and absolutely heartwarming to see them all smiling. There were many superb performances with many having to dig deep but the effort obviously paid off as we can see from the silverware and the result table 👌🥳.

Another fantastic day at the Galway Outdoors for our younger CRH athletes, with plenty of PBs, superb performances, and a well-earned collection of medals to celebrate!

Our U9 athletes, Kate and Bobby, got the day off to a brilliant start in the 300m and 60m, both posting excellent times and showing great determination on the track.

In the U10 age group, Kate, Faya, Kayleigh, Tiernan, Ruairí, Lochlainn, Jamie and Seán all competed in the 500m and 60m events, with every athlete showing the benefits of their training with some great improvements since their last day out. A special mention goes to Jamie, who broke the 10-second barrier in the 60m sprint! In the field events, Daniel impressed in both the Turbo Javelin and Long Jump.

In U11 we had Cormac, Lloyd, Colm and Faith all producing excellent performances in the 600m and 60m sprint. Their efforts were rewarded not only with new PBs, but also with the added bonus of individual bronze for Cormac in 600m, with a superb 1:55:03. Cormac and Lloyd also teamed up to claim bronze in the pairs event. More success followed in the 60m sprint, where Cormac and Colm secured bronze in the ranked pairs competition.

Our U12 athletes — Ailbhe, Anna, Rachel, Roisín and Jack — also had a terrific day across a range of events. Rachel produced a great 5.38m throw in the Shot Putt, on a challenging day. Jack battled hard in both the 600m and 60m. Rachel and Ailbhe both competed strongly in the 600m, with Rachel taking silver in an excellent time of 1:57.37. Rachel, Anna and Roisín also represented CRH proudly in the 60m sprint.

To round off a busy and successful weekend, our U10 girls relay team of Kate, Kayleigh, Kate and Faya gave a brilliant performance in the 4x100m relay.

A huge thank you to all parents for their support throughout the weekend, and to our dedicated coaches for the time and effort they put into developing these young athletes. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them who wore the red and black this weekend — congratulations and well done to all! 👏🔴⚫

A rewarding day for CRH athletes at the Galway Outdoors💪.

Eveyone wearing the red and black today left Dangan smiling as they all fought with gusto, claiming many PB's and much silverware.

Cillian Nallan and Daniel Mcguirk started our day with such determination in the u13 hurdles and fought hard. Daniel finished 4th and Cillian 11th. Daniel then went onto claim a silver in the 80m and Cillian came 11th in the 600m.

Maggie Mannion was our only u13 girl and she did super in her 600m and came 20th overall.

Our u14 girls of Eve Shanahan, Anna Lee, Laoise Connaugton and Ava Dinkin were impressive in all their distance and sprint races with Ava Dinkin claiming gold in the 2km walk and Eve claiming gold in the 800m💪.

Holly Myers flew the flag for our u15 girls and finished 5th and 6th respectively in her sprint and distance events.

Hazel Dinkin fought hard in the u16 2km walk and claimed a gold with Elizabeth Mannion showing similiar strength in the 100m and 200m and claimed a bronze in the 200m💪.

Evan Duke did amazing for us in the u17 boys by claiming bronze in both the 100m and 200m.

Rhona Connolly wore the red and black with pride and claimed and impressive gold in the u19 1500m.
