🌊 Another great night in Gartan Lake 🌊

Monday night brought another brilliant open water swim session in one of our favourite spots β€” Gartan Lake πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

With calm waters, beautiful scenery and a great group in the water, it was the perfect evening to get some open water miles in, build confidence and enjoy everything this location has to offer.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and got involved β€” the sessions are getting stronger every week πŸ’ͺ

Nothing beats an evening swim in the lake πŸŒ…

πŸ† Podiums all round for the 247 this weekend πŸ†

Saturday saw some fantastic racing at Gaelforce West 2026, with athletes taking on one of the most scenic and challenging events on the calendar.

Peter delivered a superb performance from start to finish, staying in contention throughout the race and securing an excellent 2nd Overall after a hard-fought battle at the front of the field with Niall Corless.

On Sunday, Shane McNulty represented the club at the Quarry Triathlon in Derry, putting together a strong race to claim 2nd place in his age group along with an impressive 17th Overall finish.

Massive congratulations to both athletes on an outstanding weekend of racing in the 247 colours πŸ‘

A huge thank you to Wassons Garage for their continued support of the club throughout the season. Your backing is hugely appreciated by all our athletes and members.

Metalman Swim 2026 – Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo 🌊

Another fantastic outing for the Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon Club athletes as members travelled to the stunning surroundings of Mullaghmore, Co. Sligo for the Metalman Swim 2026. Conditions made for a challenging but rewarding day in the water, with our athletes putting in brilliant performances across both the 2km and 3km events.

In the 2km swim, Martin Robinson produced an excellent performance, finishing 12th overall in a very competitive field with a strong time of 34:48. A superb effort from Martin showing great pace and consistency throughout the swim.

Also taking on the 2km event was Jacqueline Cadger, who completed the course in 53:02. Another brilliant achievement and a strong performance in open water conditions.

Stepping up to the longer 3km distance, Kathryn McBrearty represented the club brilliantly, finishing in 1:04:40. A tough challenge well handled and another excellent result for the club.

Well done to all three athletes on representing the club so well at another fantastic event. πŸŒŠπŸ‘

Another Great Weekend of Racing for Letterkenny 247 Triathlon Club Members

It was another fantastic weekend of racing for our 247 club members, with athletes taking on events across the country and producing some excellent performances, including podium finishes and strong results throughout the field.

TriAthy

A standout performance came from Mark McGinley, who secured an outstanding 2nd place overall in a time of 1:30:49, finishing just 7 seconds behind the winner. Mark exited the water in 20:54, completed the bike in 30:26, and rounded off his race with a 34:39 run. Mark put in a serious shift from start to finish and may have been slightly hampered by the bike leg being cut in half due to unforeseen circumstances. Nevertheless, it was an exceptional performance and a well-deserved podium finish.

Barry McEleneny continued his return from injury with a strong race, crossing the line in 1:48:35. Barry posted a 26:00 swim, 34:35 bike, and 41:21 run, showing great determination and form as he continues to build back to full fitness.

Noelle Lynch delivered yet another consistent performance, finishing in 2:42:54. Noelle recorded a 33:15 swim, 45:51 bike, and 1:13:39 run. Her hard work and consistency continue to pay off, and she is showing great progress with every race outing.

James McManus Sprint Triathlon

At the James McManus Sprint Triathlon, Kathryn McBrearty put in a superb performance to finish 4th in her age category, narrowly missing out on a podium place. Kathryn completed the course in 1:35:45, with splits of 15:28 for the swim, 44:51 on the bike, and 32:58 on the run. A fantastic effort and one that shows she is racing in excellent form.

Jacqueline Cadger continued her impressive run of results by securing 3rd place in her age group with a time of 1:57:57. Jacqueline recorded a 21:57 swim, 51:59 bike, and 40:23 run. Following another strong performance the previous weekend, and is showing tremendous consistency throughout the season.

Congratulations to all our athletes who represented the club so well this weekend. The hard work in training is clearly paying dividends, and it is fantastic to see so many strong performances across the board.
