‼️Cardinal Classic Cycling Team Announces Commitment to Zero-Emission Vehicles‼️
In partnership with , Cardinal Classic Elite Women’s Cycling team has announced a new commitment to use zero-emission electric vehicles (EVs) as race support vehicles, starting with the US Professional Championship Road Race in Knoxville, TN, on June 25. The Cardinal Classic Cycling team vehicle used in the race caravan will be a 100% battery electric vehicle, reducing the team’s carbon footprint and eliminating tailpipe emissions from the race caravan.
EVs eliminate direct tailpipe emissions and can provide full lifecycle emissions reductions of roughly half that compared to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles when accounting for all associated emissions resulting from vehicle and battery manufacturing, according to the Union of Concerned Scientists (SOURCE: https://www.ucsusa.org/resources/driving-cleaner).
“We are thrilled to pioneer the use of EVs in the USPRO women’s race caravan,” said Shane Martin, Cardinal Classic Cycling’s Founder and General Manager. “Cycling is a very healthy sport but following the race with numerous ICE vehicles creates significant emissions both from an overall carbon footprint and from immediate tailpipe emissions standpoint. We are happy to eliminate both by using an EV for the first time this year at Knoxville.”
