💚🧡❤️U16 League Champions 🏆 💚🧡❤️
What an evening for our U16 girls. Our squad travelled to Na Piarsaigh with a few injuries but determined to see this league campaign to the end. Our first half display showed lots of promise of things to come. Both teams seemed to have equal possession of the ball but our forwards made the most of the possession leading at half time by 2 points. On a scoreline of 6 points to 4, we were probably unlucky not to be ahead by more.
Some clever tactical changes and lots of jellies at half time saw us take control of the game in the 2nd half and push on. Despite some great runs and passes from Na Piarsaigh our defence stood strong and impenetrable and we never gave up the lead, despite our opposition coming within 1 point. The girls held their resolve and for the last 10 minutes of the 2nd half dug deep and never gave up. There were some magical passages of play with the girls getting every ball to a teammate and getting some very good well worked scores and coming away with a 4 point win.
Each and every girl on the team got to play and gave everything in a very free flowing game and are to be commended for their honesty, resilience and teamwork on the pitch. They all worked hard for one another and their efforts are the result of great training and willingness to pull together.
On route home while celebrating the girls stopped in Kilcornan to meet with GAA President Jarlath Byrnes who happened at the 40 Marathon Celebrations!!

*Kilcornan to Mark 40th Anniversary of World’s Longest-Ever Gaelic Football Game!*


Kilcornan will host a community celebration on Friday, 22nd May from 5pm to mark the 40th anniversary of the world’s longest-ever game of Gaelic football, a remarkable sporting milestone with deep local significance.

The event will take place at Kilcornan Community Centre and will bring together residents and friends from Kilcornan, Askeaton, Ballysteen, and surrounding areas. Attendees can look forward to an evening of food, refreshments, and entertainment.

We are pleased to confirm that RTÉ’s Nationwide will be filming at the event, capturing this unique anniversary and its community spirit.

The occasion will also be attended by special guest Jarlath Burns, 41st President of the GAA, adding further importance to this commemoration.

This event provides an opportunity to reflect on a historic moment in Gaelic games while celebrating the enduring pride and connection of the local community.

All are warmly invited to attend.

Our U10s have been busy over the last few weeks with training and matches !!
Last night had a great evening football against Granagh Ballingarry on a windy and showery evening. They all played fantastic.
On the 18th of April they had a great Saturday of football in Na Piarsaigh. The girls had 4 games against Monaleen and Na Piarsaigh and were very impressive 💚🧡❤️
