Team South Galway is a sports and recreation club providing bocce and swimming training and coaching for athletes with intellectual disabilities, on a weekly basis.

We have one week to go to the Ireland Summer Games and we wish to send our best wishes to all the athletes from our club and all corners of the island who will showcase their athleticism and have the craic.

Dublin won’t know what has hit them as these guys are on 🔥.

Can you spot bocce stars (Mark, Kevin, Jamie, Mathew, Adam), swimming sensations (Donal, Jack, Anthony, Eoghan), basketball supremo (Lauren), bowling expert (Martin) and speedster athlete (Greg) at the Dexcom Stadium.

TSG is offering a fun open water session for swimmers, volunteers and friends of the club. This will take place in Traught on JUNE 13 at 11:00

The session will include:
- water safety awareness
- equipment awareness
- discussion on tides
- differences between pool and open water swimming
- entering and exiting water
- floating
- swimming
- LOADS OF FUN

Please note that this is subject to weather and tides. We will also take advice from lifeguards on the day.

Our guys rocked up to the Dexcom Stadium to celebrate Team Connaught launch ahead of the 2026 Ireland Summer Games!

5 of our athletes under the eyes of one of our coaches will take to the bocce courts in the National Indoor Arena. 4 swimmers and two of our coaches will be at the National Aquatic Centre. One member will participate in basketball team, 1 in athletics and 1 in bowling. Meanwhile two more of our club coaches are busy preparing the necessary platforms for the running of bocce and swimming competitions.

It’s a busy time in TSG LAND.

We’re delighted to share that registration is now open for individuals with disability and their families to take part in the Every1Counts Activities from June 3-6th.

All activities are free of charge, but some have limited capacity—so book early!!

This is a fantastic opportunity to try new and cutting edge activities adapted for people with all levels of ability. The Experience Village will host a range of interactive activities such as frame running, adapted surfing, para-rowing, wheelchair hurling and more!!

Spectators, including congress delegates, are also very welcome to come along, explore, and enjoy the atmosphere—no registration required.

The Swim Ireland Open Water programmes cater for adults, teens and children of all levels of swimming ability but please check with them to ensure you have a programme to match your ability.

Team South Galway swimmers were in action at the Ballinasloe Eagles fun gala in Kilcornan Leisure Centre. The guys enjoyed the swimming but particularly loved meeting up with their friends from around the county for a bit of craic and treats afterwards.

Thanks to all at Ballinasloe Eagles SO Club for organising the event, to the teenagers from Bluefin Swimming Club for their officiating and to Alan and Mark at the centre for their continued support.

Team South Galway athletes and friends really enjoyed the remembrance walk through the beautiful Kilcornan estate to honour our departed friend Paul.

The walkers were treated to lovely ices from Americano Ice Cream and treats from Mr Waffle. We want to extend appreciation to both organisations who themselves knew Paul well.

Thanks to the guys in Kilcornan Leisure Complex and to Corlann Ireland for the use of facilities and their continued support.

Paul enriched many lives and he will be dearly missed but forever remembered. May he rest in peace.
