Youth Football Club for boys and girls

The main aim of the Gweedore Celtic FC Youth Academy is to develop the players and enable them to play at their highest level. We recognise the importance of player development as well as making this experience as FUN as possible for the individual. The coaching and training offered to our players will be of very high standards ensuring the players are learning what they need to be learning and de

veloping crucial attributes. We recognise the huge emphasis that has been placed on WINNING at all cost in the past in many clubs through the country, while the individuals were not allowed the opportunity to develop their skills, techniques as well as tactical knowledge to their full potential. Therefore, as we enter a new era at Gweedore Celtic FC Youth Academy, we strive on achieving player development as our main aim, giving each player the opportunity to develop and improve as a player, to play at their highest level possible, while making each session and practice a FUN experience. Within our wide panel of coaching staff it is clear to see that this is the Youth Academy philosophy that will be implemented across the board at all age groups. Following various different coaching workshops, as well as working through the FAI coaching pathway, the players will recieve the best of coaching to achieve our goal in emphasising player development.

Exciting news! Little Ballers will be starting at An Screabán next week and we couldn't be more thrilled! This program is the perfect introduction to football for boys and girls aged 3-5 years old. It provides a fun and supportive environment to learn the fundamentals of the game.

With groups already running successfully throughout the county, Little Ballers' founder, James Doherty, has received rave reviews from parents. Spaces for Little Ballers are limited, so don't miss your chance to register your child.

Comhghairdeas le foireann na ngirseach a fuair an bua in éadan Raphoe Town ar an Sathairn. Scóráil Síofra, Aisling agus Aoibhinn na cúil.

Congratulations to the girls U12s on their victory over a good Raphoe Town side on Saturday afternoon. A fortuitous effort from Síofra gave the girls the lead. Further goals from Aisling and Aoibhinn cemented the three points as the girls picked up their second win this week. Well done to all involved.👏

Fionn Mac Grianna and Adam Mac Giolla Bhríde completed their third block of training with the FAI Regional ETP Programme during the week. Well done boys.

A great result for our U12 Cosmos this evening at a sun-kissed An Screabán against our northwest neighbours, Keadue Rovers. Goals from Aaron and Jayden ensured the points in a fantastic game from both sides.

Thaisteal na girseachaí go Illistrin ar an Mháirt. Cé go ndearna siad a ndícheall ar an oíche, bhí barraíocht ag an fhoireann bhaile daofa.

Our under 12 girls left Illistrin empty handed on Tuesday evening. A strong homeside had too much for our girls on the night. The girls never gave up and tried their utmost to the very end.

Toradh faoi 16 ó thráthnóna Déardaoin.

Our U16s travelled to Goose Green on Thursday evening to play BonageeUnited. The boys were looking to maintain their fine form of late, and started the match with great intentions.

On 3 minutes, Johnnie Mac Giolla Bhríde played in Fionn Bonner but his shot was diverted out for the first corner of the game.
Na Ceiltigh continued to control the early exchanges and another drive forward by Johnnie on 8 minutes released Peter Carragher on the left, whose cross was met at the back post by Fionn Bonner, who headed in for 1-0.

The west Donegal lads continued to boss the midfield, with excellent industry by man of the match, Martin Mac Giolla Choill.
Goal opportunities fell to the boys from Gaoth Dobhair and Crónán Mac Pháidín created a fine opportunity for Liam Breathnach, who narrowly missed on 30 minutes.

On the 44th minute, Mac Giolla Choill drove through midfield and his pass to Mac Pháidín allowed a quick shot, which fizzed past the far post.

Na Ceiltigh were caught by a sucker punch on 46 minutes, when a ricochet from a clearance nestled in the Gweedore goal.
This upset the lad’s composure and Bonagee took the lead on 52 minutes when a replica of the Gaoth Dobhair goal made it 2-1 for the home side.

Na Ceiltigh fought hard to get the equaliser but the effort wasn’t rewarded as the clock ticked down.
A disappointing night for our U16s, but the ability, commitment and resilience shown thus far will ensure that learnings will be taken from the defeat, which will help the group in the latter stages of the season.⚽👊👌

Phioc na gasúraí suas pointe cruaidh as baile in Swilly Rovers ar an Luan.

Our U12s picked up a hard-earned point at the newly laid Swilly Park on Monday evening. A huge performance from all our youngsters on an evening where they had to dig deep to get a point from the match. Well done boys 👍
