Congratulations to Liam Shaw, Athenry AC on winning the U15 Shot Putt Title in a New Championship Record of 15.13m at today's Scottish Athletics National Indoor Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Liam also picked up a National Silver Medal in the 60M Hurdles

Congratulations to Athenry's Rebecca Caulfield who has been named on the Connacht Team for next weeks GAA Rounders Interprovincials taking place at the Athlone Regional Sports Centre, Connacht will play Leinster in the 1st Semi-Final with the winners playing the winners of the 2nd Semi-Final Munster v Ulster in the Interpro Final.
In 2013 Rebecca captained an Athenry Community Games Rounders team to County Gold, Connaught Gold & a 4th Place at the Community Games National Finals in Athlone, Rebecca also won a Galway Community Games County Gold in Solo Singing.
Rebecca congrats on your selection to the Connacht Team you have always been a fantastic ambassador for both Athenry & Galway Community Games, we are so PROUD OF YOU.

Athenry Community Games & Parish Sports Committee are delighted to announce that we are to receive a "Galway People of the Year Award"
The Galway People of the Year Awards acknowledge people and organisations who, through their commitment to participating in community and voluntary activities (often unnoticed), have had a positive and significant impact on the quality of life of their communities, Athenry Community Games & Parish Sports Committee since its formation in the late 1950's have been providing sporting & cultural opportunities for the children of Athenry, the committee has worked closely with all the local Schools & Clubs in order to promote the ideas of community spirit of friendly rivalry, they strive to help the children to participate in as many activities and opportunities as possible in the spirit of competing fairly and honestly to the best of their abilities.
