NUIG GMIT Kayak Club Welcome to NUIG Kayak Club. All the latest club info on sessions and other river shenanigans! Welcome to the NUIG Kayak Club!

The Kayak Club is one of the largest university kayak clubs in Ireland. The Club aims to introduce everyone to the sport of kayaking, and caters for every level of skill, from complete beginner to expert paddling. The NUIG Kayak Club has a reputation for being one of the most social clubs on campus. As well as regular talks about various kayaking topics in Galway, we run some great river trips. Th

e activities we run include beginner sessions, intermediate sessions, Irish Canoe Union assessments, day trips, weekend trips, rescue, safety, first aid and kayak instructor courses - not to mention a hectic social calendar! Whitewater trials will be held on Saturday the 23rd of November and you must meet in the shed at 2pm for them
The whitewater trial will take place at the top of s**t chute and will be one run of the lower Corrib with a course that will be explained on the day
It is only accessible to level 3’s and up
Everyone that wants to compete must have the forms sheet that was sent in completed by the 21st of November

Boater X trials will be held on Saturday the 23rd of November and you must meet in the shed at 2pm for them
The boater X trial will take place over the juries drop in the river Corrib and there will be multiple laps where you will be competing for your spot on the team

Hey all the club will be holding an info talk for intervarsities on Wednesday the 13th of November.
This talk will be mandatory if you are interested in attending intervarsities next February.
We will be discussing the different disciplines that are involved with varsities.
It will be in Dillon Thomas theatre at 7pm.
There will be a social night afterwards.

Hey all, have some great news on top of the sessions we have been running this week, the women’s sunrise paddle is making its grand return this Friday at 7:45am.
To attend you must be level 2 and sign up on Yourspace
Everyone will be meeting at the shed in the morning and then setting off.

Hey all, there has been a change of plans for the club’s EGM (emergency general meeting), it has now been cancelled and moved to Wednesday the 16th of October.
There is no longer a meeting on the 2nd of October.
We will be carrying on with the pre arranged plan of electing the first year rep and club info talk, as well as going out for a social night after.
The time and place will be decided soon.

Hey all, a huge thank you to for hosting a whitewater development day for our paddlers and many others who want their first taste of whitewater experience.
It will be held on the 6th of October which is Sunday this week
Boats and gear will be brought down for you in the club van.
But you must make your own way down.
The price is €10 per person and that must be payed by Thursday
It is to be paid to the I-ban in the forms page
Unfortunately this offer only pertains to members of university of Galway
