⚽️ Third Place….somehow ⚽️

My up and down adventure in 2024 continues. After 36 holes, 1 eagle, 14 birdies, 3 bogeys and 2 double bogeys I came away with third place today in the pro category 🥉✨

I haven’t kicked a ball since March so really pleased to come away with another podium this year.

Bit of a throwback podium to 2015-2016 FootGolf with James Barry and Kevin J Heelan 💚💚

⚽️ DNF ⚽️

After the highs of the first stage, finishing third, I found myself having my lowest moment in 10 years of playing the game.

I'll never be someone to make excuses and how I played is fully on me. Mentally I was never in it today with little things even before I started gnawing away at me. The lack of practice was also found out, especially when it came to my putting. Even putts from 6 yards were a struggle and being missed.

I have never withdrawn from a tournament before regardless of how bad it went but today was a first and I'll have to dissect why it was so easy for me to make that decision to walk away. Rather though than wait an hour and a half between when I finished round 1 and started round 2, I decided to make hay and shoot home to the family.

Part of sport is accepting when its not your day and today was my worst. The exciting bit for me is I'm glad I was exposed so early in the tour, that I now have 2 months to work on everything so physically and mentally I am better prepared when the tour resumes.

Congratulations to all the winners today. Some brilliant FootGolf on display and serious strength in depth being built in Ireland.

Tomorrow I’m heading to Dublin to play Stage 2 of the Ireland FootGolf Tour. After a satisfying 3rd place in Stage 1, my aim tomorrow is the same as last time. Take one shot at a time and enjoy every moment.

Perspective is a huge thing and I know how privileged I am to live in a country where I can do these things.

Looking rough as nails 😂 but some nice footage in here from the FootGolf Association of Ireland event in FootGolf Kildare.

Big thanks to Carlow Wedding Films for the footage.

⚽️ Third Place ⚽️

After 36 holes, 19 birdies and 1 bogey, I'm happy to say I came away with a third place finish in the 2024 seasons opening competition in FootGolf Kildare 🥉✨

I had no expectations heading into today so it was a pleasant surprise to find myself leading after the first round with a score of -9. However, despite repeating that same score in the second round and finishing -18, I couldn't quite match the what Tiarnan Magee and James Barry did, both putting up huge performances to finish Tied 1st on a remarkable -20.

Onwards now to Stage 2, taking place in a couple of weeks ⚽️⛳️

⚽️⛳️👶🎉 Exciting News Alert! 🎉👶⛳️⚽️

After a brief 18 month hiatus from competitive FootGolf to focus on some major life milestones - including welcoming my son into the world 👪 - I'm excited to make my return to the FootGolf circuit this coming Sunday in FootGolf Kildare!

Over the past 18 months, I've been away from the competitive circuit, but that doesn't mean I've lost my touch or desire to win every event I play!

As I embark on this journey to get back to the top table of FootGolf in Ireland, I'm also excited to announce that I'm open to any and all sponsorship or partnership opportunities! 🤝 Whether you're a local business looking to support this aspiring middle aged athlete or a brand eager to collaborate with a driven FootGolf player, I'm keep to team up 💼🌟

Stay tuned for updates!

Sunday was the perfect day for a competition in what is always an immaculate course in Kilkenny Footgolf.

Delighted to take the overall win out of 57 players. It takes a pretty good 36 holes to finish ahead of James Barry these days. After a ding d**g battle in the second round, I managed to take the win by one shot on the final hole and take home the inaugural John Holmes Memorial Trophy. Looking forward to going again in Footee Navan in a couple of weeks.

It feels strange coming off the course after a win knowing you left a lot of shots out there but that is part of only being able to turn up these days and play events. Three podiums in four events is a great return so far this year. I'll go again on the 21st in Navan

Special mention to The Holmes family for everything you do and to Stan Brennan for organising the event. Couldn't have enjoyed my two rounds more so thank you James Barry, Liam Buckley, Katie Donoghue and Cathal Jenkinson for the two rounds.

Slow to get around to this but I'm very content to come away with a second podium in three events in the Stage 5 of the FootGolf Association of Ireland National Tour, held at Barry Hamill - Brackaville Footgolf last Sunday.

Pretty average first round left me just inside the Top 10 and looking unlikely to feature anywhere for the day.

Found my form in the second round, hitting the joint top score of the day of -15. Cian Fitzpatrick, Conor Bradley, Stan Brennan, Paolo Di Adamo and Wayne Condron - Really enjoyed the rounds with you. James Barry class as always.

Onwards to the FootGolf Association of Scotland Open this weekend where hopefully I can finally string two high quality rounds together and put in a proper performance.

Have to be content coming away with an 11th place finish out of 56 players considering it was not my day!

Every shot and every hole (apart from the hole in 1 😉) felt like a slog!

Name of the game is Top 12 finishes to give me the best chance at qualifying for the 2023 World Cup.

Onwards to the next one!
