And somehow… we survived our first summer 😅
Summer is officially over and our first season at Eilean Bay Stud is done! Plenty of miles, early mornings, late nights, plaiting, washing, shows and the usual chaos in between — but some brilliant days and memories along the way ❤️
As much as we love the summer and the shows, I have to admit winter is probably my favourite time of year in the yard. There’s something really enjoyable about having all the young horses coming through, getting the breakers started, handling the youngsters, preparing the c**ts and fillies for inspections and starting to see what we might have for next year.
Winter is definitely still busy for us, but it’s a different kind of busy. No racing around the country to shows every weekend — just getting stuck into the young stock, watching them change and progress, and looking around the yard wondering which ones we’ll be taking out next summer 😂
We already have plenty to keep us occupied, with breakers in, c**ts and fillies coming for inspections and quite a few horses and ponies being prepared for sale. We’ll have room for a few more along the way too, whether it’s breaking, sales prep or getting something started with next season in mind 🐴
So the show gear can finally be packed away for another year… and out come the wellies, waterproofs and woolly hats 😂🍂
Plenty of young horses and seeing what we can find for next season, hopefully no fire breathing dragons those frosty mornings and baby horses are testing !
We survived our first summer! 😂❤️🐴
