A very successful 10 mile race!
Roll on 2027

On Sunday morning, Edenderry AC hosted round 3 of the Offaly Endurance series in what could only be described as hot and tough conditions. The first two rounds of the series consisted of the Aisling Murphy 4 mile race and the Kilcormac Kiloughey 10km with runners making the step up to the 10 mile for the race in Edenderry.

The course record, which had been held by Paul O’Donnell (49:49) from Dundrum, was smashed by the first three men home with Aaron Hanlon of Drogheda in 3rd (49:47), Sean Tobin of Clonmel in second (49:00) and Ryan Creech of Leevale AC in Cork taking the title in 48:41.
For the ladies it was Sorcha Nic Dhomhnaill who was first to cross the finish line was also smashing the previously held course record of 57:43, which had been set by Michelle Finn.
The West Limerick athlete was followed closely by Cheryl Nolan of St Abbans AC in 57:38 and Ide Nic Dhomhnaill of West Limerick AC in 57:43.

On the local scene, it was a proud day for Edenderry AC as Caroline Donnellan (1:07:46) was the first female Offaly athlete home, hopefully she’ll have room on the mantlepiece for the trophy, it’s getting quite full now!
Kevin Minnock of Tullamore Harriers was the first Offaly male athlete in a phenomenal time of 54:57.

For Edenderry AC it was a very proud day as they were crowned champions of the Peugeot team series as they had the first three male and first three female athletes home with Ger Hanlon, Steven McNamee, Jamie O’Donoghue, Caroline Donnellan, Ciara O’Connor and Olesia Shyman all comprising the Edenderry team on the day.

Within the county, there were more medals for our athletes as our ladies team finished in third place behind Naomh Mhuire and Ferbane. A huge well done to Caroline Donnellan, Ciara O’Connor, Olesia Shyman and Eavan Duffy.
Our men’s team finished in second place behind Tullamore with Ger Hanlon, Steven McNamee, Jamie O’Donoghue and Peter Maguire the first four men home from the club. A huge well done to both teams.

The Offaly Endurance series concludes on August 29th with the Tullamore half marathon with many of our athletes still in contention for medals.

A huge word of thanks goes to our very generous sponsors and all our volunteers who worked tirelessly to make the event the best one yet! The extra water stations certainly proved popular with the runners! Let’s hope next year is even bigger and better again.

Lastly, everyone at Edenderry AC would like to wish Olesia Shyman a speedy recovery after she suffered a broken leg on Monday morning and underwent surgery on Tuesday. She will be a huge loss to the club, but we all hope to see her back in action in 2027, as strong as ever.
