Our Athboy race day didn’t go as we’d hoped but we learned a lot at a brand new track for us.
Seán struggled in qualifying ending up out of position in P18. Found a technical problem with the clutch coming loose 😳.
In heat 1 Seán had an amazing start getting up to P15 within a few corners, until the clutch problem returned resulting in a P18 finish 😩.
In heat 2 Seán made up a few positions before having to avoid spinning karts ahead and turning his kart into a lawn mower 😎. But he didn’t give up and brought it home in P20.
Unfortunately, that put us in P20 for the final and in fairness to Seán, he managed to get to P16.
We had hoped for better but that’s racing.

Early 5am start for us today to get to Athboy for round 5 of the Tillotson Ireland Karting Championship.
It was a brand new track for us but Seán put together an impressive 5 sessions improving his fastest time in every single one.
Big shout out to Jay Larkin for the coaching, it paid off massively today.
Time for some food and an early night to get into some great racing tomorrow.

So proud of Seán’s results today.

Qualified P15 and got up to P12 in Heat 1 before getting tangled and having to recover from P28.

Managed to get up to P19 and got on with it.

Heat 2 went from P15 to P11 🤘🏁

Started the final in P12 and finished in P9 🎉🎉🎉

What a great day of testing at Kiltorcan Raceway

It got hot out there 🔥☀️even the race track looked like it was melting 🥵

But Seán did a great job in every session and exceeded the target he set for the day.

Great to see all the talent across the age groups.

Time for a cold shower and a cold drink and then an early start tomorrow again.

Tough day of lows and highs and lows, but so much learned.
Struggled in qualifying to find grip and had to start Heat 1 in P22.
A few setup changes transformed the kart in Heat 1 and went from P22 to P10.
Heat 2 brought some engine gremlins out with pace dropping randomly, and ended up P20.
That put us in P14 for the final.
Had a good start moving up to P10, but we unfortunately ended up with a disqualification 😩.
Lessons learned and looking forward to the next round.
