Tough day of lows and highs and lows, but so much learned.
Struggled in qualifying to find grip and had to start Heat 1 in P22.
A few setup changes transformed the kart in Heat 1 and went from P22 to P10.
Heat 2 brought some engine gremlins out with pace dropping randomly, and ended up P20.
That put us in P14 for the final.
Had a good start moving up to P10, but we unfortunately ended up with a disqualification 😩.
Lessons learned and looking forward to the next round.

As many of you may know, our colleague and friend Christian Westphal was diagnosed with Motor Neuron Disease in November 2024.

Christian, Conor Phelan Construction’s longest-standing employee, is a hugely valued part of our team and a devoted husband and father of two young boys.

What a thrilling weekend we’ve just had and as a total rookie family team, we couldn’t be prouder of what Seán achieved.
Started the final in P19 and got a P10 finish.
Thought we made the best choice to go out on slicks and within a few laps the heavens opened😩, but he brought it home safe and made some great overtakes.
I’ve probably aged a lot in the last 2 days but fortunately haven’t got much room left for more grey hair 😁

First day done at Adventure Park at Kartworld Cork with some ups and downs.
Got P11 in a very wet practice session, then qualified P14.
In Heat 1 Seán managed to get to P11 within 2 laps before having engine issues that forced a DNF 😩
Stayed in P14 for Heat 2 but will take away a lot of positives for the finals tomorrow.
As David at the Wexford Motor Club Youth Academy says: motorsport can be cruel and unfair.

Big disappointment this weekend after the first championship round at White River Park was postponed. But we headed to Kiltorcan Raceway for an hour of testing this morning. Was a quiet track but great practice session.

Time for the boys to do some maintenance. Hard to believe that 5 months ago we’d have struggled to find the spark plug and now we’re removing valve springs and lapping valves 🤯😄 #

Great morning with the Wexford Motor Club Youth Academy despite losing an hour sleep. Seán and Rory were on track and had great results. Thanks to Kiltorcan Raceway for the healthy winner’s snack, it didn’t last the journey home 😁
