Having completed the building of our clubhouse and opening it in 2012, it has become a focal point of our community, with its meeting rooms and large function room, which accommodates Bingo, Social Dancing, Art classes etc, as well as a wide variety of activities—some sporting and non-sporting—both inside & outside the community, our clubhouse has become an asset to our community. We are a small club with just over 120 members that was founded in 1929. Although the Grove has been the focus of Gaelic sports in the region for more than 136 years, we have been playing Gaelic football here for the last 94 years. We would not be where we are today without the support of our local community, businesses and generous individuals from around the area both past and present and that support has been very much appreciated throughout the years.
So as the O’Connell’s approach 100 years in the Grove, it is now time to embark on our next stage of development so that we can give our members and the larger community more facilities. In order to provide our junior and senior teams with a secure location to train in inclement weather and a fully functional GYM for players and members to use, we plan to demolish our old dressing rooms, which have been there since the early 1970s.
