We hear plenty about the strength of Kerry’s bench and rightly so, but after last night’s team and panel announcement, it’s hard not to believe Dublin are starting with the strongest bench we’ve had in years.
When you can call upon players of the calibre of Seán Bugler, Ross McGarry, Cian Murphy, Seán Guiden and Alex Gavin, all of whom would be starting for the vast majority of counties in the country, we're operating from a position of real strength. Add in the potential impact of Eoin Murchan, Luke Breathnach and Greg McEneaney if fit and Dublin have real game changers in reserve for every line of the field.
What makes this so exciting is that Ger now has genuine firepower to alter the course of a game from the sideline. Whether it's injecting pace, experience, physicality or composure, Dublin's bench isn't just there to support the starting fifteen, it's a major weapon in its own right. If games are won and lost in the final 15 minutes, we look to be well-equipped to finish strong.
