TEAM POWER OF 1 – Atlantic Rowers Announcement💙

When we set out across the Atlantic, we never imagined that the journey would lead to something as powerful as this.

Together, with the incredible support of our corporate sponsors, individual donors, family and friends, Team Power Of 1 raised €575,841 in memory of beautiful Saoirse O’Driscoll.

We are incredibly proud to share that your generosity is now creating two lasting legacies that will help children with congenital heart disease and their families in Ireland.

💙 The Saoirse O’Driscoll Fund for Lymphatic Advancement in Paediatric Cardiology has been established through Children’s Health Ireland – Children’s Heart Centre. It will help develop specialist expertise, train clinicians and bring much-needed knowledge of lymphatic complications in paediatric cardiology to Ireland — an area that was so relevant to Saoirse’s own journey.

💙 The Saoirse O’Driscoll Legacy Fund has been established with Heart Children Ireland to support a new Family Support Officer, providing comfort, guidance and practical support to families of children with CHD during their hospital stays.

Saoirse’s life was far too short, but her legacy can now help make another child’s journey a little easier, and another family feel a little less alone.

That is something truly special.

To everyone who helped us raise this incredible amount — thank you will never be enough.

You have helped us turn our love for Saoirse into something that will continue to make a difference for years to come.

For Saoirse. Forever 13. đź’™

One year ago today, Team Power of 1 did the impossible đź’™
Five Irish dads — Conor, Daragh, Enda, John and Roger — none of them rowers, took on the world’s toughest row and crossed 5,000 km of the Atlantic Ocean, finishing an incredible 3rd place.

They rowed in loving memory of 13-year-old Saoirse O’Driscoll, and with the support of hundreds of individuals and corporate partners, they raised an extraordinary €578,000 for charities supporting children born with congenital heart disease in Ireland.

This was never a solo effort — it was powered by community, generosity and belief.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible, and huge congratulations to the team on a truly spectacular achievement.

Team Power of 1 was honoured to present the funds raised from our World’s Toughest Row in memory of the incredible Saoirse O’Driscoll.

Together, we raised an extraordinary €575,841 for two charities that were deeply woven into Saoirse’s journey: Heart Children Ireland and the Children’s Heart Centre through the Children’s Health Foundation.

Over 3,743 individual donors and 40 corporate sponsors supported our iDonate campaign — a powerful display of generosity, compassion, and unity.

We were warmly welcomed to the Mansion House by The Lord Mayor, Emma Blain, where we had the privilege of presenting these funds surrounded by a community who loved and supported Saoirse:

Saoirse’s cherished friends, and her devoted family from Dublin and Tipperary.

Her loving parents, Aoife and John, and her little brother Riain, who were central to the day. John delivered a moving and powerful speech that captured Saoirse’s incredible strength, bravery and the deep impact she made in her short life.

Our amazing rowers Enda, Daragh, and Roger, and their families. Team member Conor McCarthy was unable to attend due to work commitments but sent his heartfelt well wishes.

Representing Heart Children Ireland were CEO Sheila Campbell and Fundraising Executive Niamh Kearney, who is also Saoirse’s aunt.

Representing the Children’s Heart Centre were Fionnuala O’Leary (CEO), Rosemary Simmons (Director of Development), Catherine Sheehan (Community Engagement), Liz Cronin, Rachel Daly and Niamh White.

A wonderful gathering of close friends and corporate sponsors.

And two exceptional individuals who cared for Saoirse — her cardiologist, Professor Orla Franklin, and her surgeon, Professor Lars Nolke.

The funds raised will go directly towards improving the lives of children born with congenital heart disease through impactful projects such as:

A Family Support Worker at the Children’s Heart Centre at CHI Crumlin, providing emotional and practical support to families during hospital stays.

Investment in cutting-edge VR technology, allowing surgeons to create 3D replicas of a child’s heart — a breakthrough tool that, as explained by Prof. Franklin, will enhance surgical planning and improve outcomes

Every stroke we rowed was for Saoirse. Her legacy now lives on — bringing comfort and hope to countless children and their families.
Thank you to everyone who supported us. This is — and always will be — the true Power of 1.
