My young fella managed to pull the curtain pole clean out of the wall getting up his ladder 😂

And these walls are an absolute nightmare. Loose, crumbly, and every time you try drill them, they just seem to fall apart.

Normally I’d fill it, let it set, drill it again, raw plug it, and do the full repair.

But I love testing out little ideas I have in my head — and sometimes the shortcuts end up being the best fixes.

So this time I tried something different.

First, I sealed all the loose crumbly stuff with Peel Stop, just to bind it together and give it something solid to grab onto.

Then I loaded the hole with CT1 Sealant & Adhesive and fixed the bracket back in.

it worked an absolute treat, fantastic product.

It’s solid, it has a tiny bit of give, and I can paint over it after.

What started as a little test might actually be the best way I’ve found to fix these horrible crumbly wall problems.

Sometimes the mad idea in your head turns out to be the one

Also, a special thanks to CT1 for being the main sponsors of our Irish Paint Fam AsIAm Croagh Patrick hike and for really looking after myself, Sean and all the lads. They were brilliant to us, and it was much appreciated.

This kitchen was all about the prep.

First thing we did was wash everything down with Pretty Boy mixed in lukewarm water.

On kitchen doors, grease is the enemy. If you don’t remove it properly, it doesn’t matter what primer or undercoat you use — you’re only coating over the grease. The paint might look fine at the start, but underneath, that greasy layer is still there, and the first knock or bang can chip it straight off.

So the prep is simple but essential:

Wash it down properly.
Sand it.
Then wipe it again with a clean water cloth to remove any dust and any cleaner left behind.

After that, we went on with two coats of Benjamin Moore Scuff-X Satin.

Scuff-X is self-priming, so on a job like this we can get a great finish with two coats — but if we’re not using an undercoat, we like to leave it 24 hours before the second coat. We just find it gives the first coat proper time to cure and gives a better, tougher finish.

For the doors, we used the Two Fussy Blokes 4-inch 10mm microfibre roller.

That 10mm nap is perfect for getting into the grooves, mouldings, wine racks, little presses and all those awkward deep shelves where a brush can be a nightmare. The roller gets right in there and leaves a lovely finish.

And the best bit — Scuff-X is now available in quarts from Templeogue Decor, so you don’t have to buy a full gallon for a small kitchen or touch-up job.

Well this was some bit of craic to wake up to on Monday morning

Tommy Bowe got his hands on the Two Fussy Blokes roller on Ireland AM… and let’s just say Ash had to step in and show him how it’s done

In fairness to Tommy, he did nail the one-liner — “spray-like finish” — and we’ll happily take that from a man famous for a good line

Then the whole thing turned into a debate about size — because apparently, when it comes to rollers, size really does matter

And Alan Hughes nearly finished us off when he heard the name “Two Fussy Blokes”…

“If I walked into a shop and asked for two fussy blokes, they’d throw me out!” 😂😂

Couldn’t have scripted it better.

Massive thanks to Ireland AM, Tommy Bowe, Alan Hughes and Ash from Down with the Home for giving the Two Fussy Blokes a proper run out on national telly.

We are fussy — that’s how we roll.

ADVERTISEMENT well sort of 🤣

The new Two Fussy Blokes adjustable frame has landed… and Sean Nolan has discovered he may need to start the Butler & Dunne 100-Day Challenge before he’s trusted to tighten a few nuts.

100 press-ups.
100 sit-ups.
And after only 8 days, you can clearly see the results in this video…

The chest is coming on nicely.
Very strong.
Very powerful.
Very… boxy. 📦😂

Massive thanks to the lads for the most professional ad we’ve ever been involved with.

Produced by Nolan Rockabilly Productions.

Available for ads, acting, slagging, strength testing, and making a show of themselves on camera.

Payment accepted in rollers, biscuits and pints.

100 PRESS-UPS. 100 SIT-UPS. EVERY DAY FOR 100 DAYS.

DAY 1 vs DAY 5.

A few weeks ago, Gerry .ni put a voice note into the whatsapp group.

He was talking about how running had helped him get back into fitness and how we should all be doing something for ourselves every day, even if it’s only 10 or 15 minutes.

That message stuck with me.

Not long before that, a group of us had climbed Croagh Patrick for AsIAm, and if I’m honest, it reminded me how far I’d drifted away from fitness.

I’ve always loved the gym.

But between three kids, two businesses, football training, school runs, walking the dog, and everything else, life got busy and the gym slowly disappeared.

So instead of making more excuses, I decided to do something simple.

✅ 100 Press-Ups
✅ 100 Sit-Ups
✅ Every Day for 100 Days

No gym membership.

No protein shakes.

No supplements.

I’m not selling anything.

This is completely free.

Day 1 felt easy.

Day 2 and Day 3 hit hard.

I had to drop onto my knees to finish the press-ups on day 3

Day 4 was probably the closest I’ve come to packing it in.

Then Day 5 felt easier again.

And now Day 6 is done and actually feeling great it’s definitely working.

I’m also adding in a small run on Sundays because one of my lads wants to get into running, and to be fair, I enjoy it myself.

As for food, I’m not on some mad diet either.

This weekend I had pints.

I had a Burger King.

The only real change I’ve made is replacing my late-night chocolate habit with fruit.

That’s it.

This challenge isn’t really about press-ups or sit-ups.

It’s about:

✅ Building a Habit
✅ Improving My Mental Health
✅ Getting Fitter
✅ More Energy Every Day
✅ Showing Up For Myself Again

6 days down.

94 to go.

Some days are easy.

Some days are brutal.

Show up anyway.

A lot of painters ask why I always rinse and spin a new microfibre roller before using it.

There are actually two reasons.

First, microfibre rollers start life as one large sheet of woven material. Think of it like a big carpet. When that material is cut down into roller sleeves, the cut edges can leave a few loose woven fibres around the ends.

A quick rinse and spin lets you spot these straight away and pull them out before you start painting. You’ll see in the video that they’re usually larger woven strands that are easy to find by following the weave of the fabric.

The second reason is the one most people never think about…

Capillary action.

When the roller is damp, the moisture helps draw the paint right into the core of the microfibre. Instead of the paint just sitting on the surface, the capillary action pulls it deep into the roller sleeve, loading it up quicker and helping it work properly from the very first dip.

A fully loaded roller carries more paint, releases it more evenly, and keeps you rolling for longer before having to reload.

So before I start any job:

✅ Rinse the roller

✅ Spin it out

✅ Remove any loose woven fibres

✅ Let the capillary action pull the paint deep into the core

It’s a small step that takes less than a minute, but it helps the roller perform the way it was designed to.

“Rinse and spin before I begin.”

We are fussy — that’s how we roll.

New PVC window fitted, so the first job was protecting it.

Masked up with Hippo 14-Day Tape before running a bead of Filltite Fill & Finish Caulk along the frame.

Both are newer additions that I’ve been using lately and I’m really impressed with them. The tape gives a lovely clean edge and the caulk is easy to work with, tools up nicely and leaves a neat finish.

Once that was done, I cut in with the 1” Two Fussy Blokes Aqua Glider and rolled it off with the 4” Two Fussy Blokes 5mm Microfibre Mini Roller.

Paint used was Fleetwood Advanced Eggshell matched to Farrow & Ball Duck Green.

Clean lines.
Lovely colour.
Quality finish.

We are fussy… that’s how we roll.

BREAKING NEWS FOR IRISH PAINTERS 🚨

Benjamin Moore Scuff-X is finally available in quarts.

Now, if you’re not a painter, this probably won’t mean much. But for decorators, this is a big deal.

Up until now, if you wanted Scuff-X for a wardrobe, built-in units, a utility room, a few doors, or a smaller kitchen job, you were often forced into buying a full gallon when you only needed a fraction of it.

A gallon goes a long way, but sometimes it’s simply too much paint for the job.

Now we can finally get quarts.

I’ve plenty of jobs where a gallon would have been overkill, but a quart will be absolutely ideal. And don’t let the size fool you either — a quart goes a lot further than you’d think. Using quality microfibre rollers like the Two Fussy Blokes range, you can get fantastic coverage and get a surprising amount of work done from one tin.

For wardrobes, built-ins, utility rooms, smaller woodwork jobs and plenty of kitchens, this is a brilliant option to have.

At the moment, they’re available exclusively from Templeogue Decor.

Small tin. Big news.

About time, Benjamin Moore!
