This past few years marked an exciting evolution in our dance curriculum with the introduction of Speech & Drama, and more recently, a Public Speaking element at Starlight Academy.

While many students felt nervous at the outset, the curriculum—designed by the Irish Board of Speech and Drama—provided a supportive framework for them to grow in confidence and expression. Our dancers spoke passionately about their love of dance, shared experiences from memorable events and trips such as Disney, and reflected on the individuals who inspire them within the industry.

They also demonstrated impressive knowledge as they presented detailed insights into their dance attire and footwear, using their own kit as a practical reference.

The impact of this initiative has been truly powerful. Student feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a newfound confidence in finding and using their voice—an invaluable skill that will support them well beyond the studio and into life and work.

A special thank you to Irish Board examiner Karen Murphy, whose encouragement and expertise significantly enhanced our students’ belief in their dance, performance, and communication abilities.

These girls have put in the hours week in, week out, constantly pushing themselves to improve their technique and grow stronger every single session. Watching their confidence and improvement skyrocket has been so special — the progress they’ve made is honestly insane 💫
