The fact that all people can focus on in a reel is what you do or do not look like, and not what you’re doing, highlights that we still have work to do as a society

Because clearly there’s still this narrative that a woman’s body should look a certain way to be deemed worthy or acceptable

The fact that people can come onto someone’s page and comment something hateful, knowing they wouldn’t say it to that person’s face, says more about them than it does about me

And doing it while knowing f*ck all about that person - what they’ve been through or had to overcome

I’m not the leanest in the room, I never claimed to be, and I’m not chasing a certain look either

But I’ve had multiple sports taken away from me through injury, undergone 4 knee surgeries (still recovering from the 4th), 2 jaw surgeries last July, while dealing with PMOS and my mental health

So I’m pretty freaking proud of the fact that I’ve pivoted regardless of what’s come my way, and I’m still going

So all I can say is - do better and create a more positive narrative for the next generation

One that doesn’t force women into a box

And while you’re at it, maybe ask yourself why a woman lifting weights bothers you so much

For years, I thought the only thing standing between me and actually feeling good in myself was a smaller body

If I could just lose the weight, then I’d be happier and more confident

It turns out it wasn’t the number on the scale that made me feel good

But learning to show up for myself consistently

Eating meals that fuel me instead of surviving on the lowest calorie option and ending up face-first in the biscuits tin come 9pm

Pushing myself in my sessions and proving to myself that I’m capable of more than I thought

Speaking to myself with less criticism and more compassion

Ultimately, I started treating myself like someone I care about, instead of treating myself like someone I hated

While those habits happened to lead to a 7kg weight loss

If you took the scale away tomorrow, I’d still have all of those things

Which is why the habits matter more than the outcome itself

If you’re stuck chasing a number on the scale and wondering why you still don’t feel good enough when you get there, it might be time to shift the focus

Which is exactly what we do in coaching

Liverpool Bench Classic āœ…

First time doing anything competitive since February last year after having my days of oly cut short through injury

Then 2 jaw operations in July and knee surgery no.4 in November, safe to say training’s been fairly broken up until February this year

Going into surgery, I said I wanted to bench 100kg by the end of it

As a way of proving to myself I’m still capable - capable of showing up, rebuilding, and getting stronger even after everything

And to show others what’s possible when you stop letting your setbacks define you and start using them as a pivot

My knee history may have changed how I train. It doesn’t get to stop me from becoming as strong and fit as I possibly can within my current limitations🌟

Myself and Shane Storey - Strength & Physique Coach set 85kg as the goal when I signed up - anything beyond that was a bonus

āšŖļø 80kg (opening at that is wild in itself)
šŸ”“ 85kg
āšŖļø 85kg

That first 85kg attempt will haunt me - not only did the bar go too deep, my hamstring decided to cramp the hell up, it just wasn’t happening

Proud that I recovered, came back out like nothing happened, and made it my b*tch on the third attempt. She flewšŸ’…šŸ»

We discovered pretty quickly I work best when I’m aggressive and go in with a ā€œyou’re my b*tchā€ mentality šŸ˜‚

I dropped 7kg over the last few months alongside final year stress and knee setbacks - to hit 85kg in a competition setting and come away with a silver medal felt really freaking good🄈

Especially with the best hype squad behind meā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

Shoutout to Hannah Elizabeth | Online Coach for being the best handler🄹

90kg is in touching distance, and 100kg isn’t far behind (and hopefully an Irish singlet)šŸ‘€šŸ¤

Guess that means I’m a big dawg *wuff wuff*

I said from Day 1 I wanted to graduate with a First Class degree, and we’ve only gone and done the thing🄹

Yesterday I got my final undergraduate degree results, and I’m proud to say I’ve achieved a First Class Honours degree in Sport & Exercise Science šŸŽ“šŸ¤“

Three years ago, I left Donegal and moved to Liverpool to study a subject I genuinely loved after having my own days of football cut short through injury

Not everyone thought it was the right decision at the time. I was encouraged to pursue more ā€œtraditionalā€ careers like medicine, physiotherapy, teaching, nursing, or midwifery🄱

I was told my potential ā€œwould be wasted on a sports degreeā€, and that ā€œwomen don’t work in sportā€

Thankfully, I was too stubborn to listen šŸ˜…

Over the last three years, I’ve balanced my degree alongside working three jobs and building my coaching business

During that time, my passion has only grown, not just through my studies, but through my own experience of four knee surgeries and being forced to give up one too many sports

I’ve developed a passion for understanding how the human body responds to training, injury, and rehabilitation

Particularly how the body moves, how it responds to stress, and how we can use training to help people perform at their best while becoming more resilient and better equipped to handle the demands of life, sport, and everything in between

What this degree means to me isn’t just a classification. It’s the hard work, perseverance, and determination that went into earning it, particularly during what was a very personally challenging year

The biggest lesson it’s taught me, and one it hopefully show others, you don’t have to follow the path other people choose for you

Growth happens when you put yourself out there, say yes to opportunities, and keep going when it would be easier to admit defeat

Sometimes being a bit stubborn isn’t such a bad thing šŸ˜‰

Grateful for everything I’ve learned, the people I’ve met, and the opportunities that came from taking a chance on myself

Next stop MSc šŸ§¬šŸŽ“

I showed up to yap to my phone for at least 60 seconds a day for 100 days in a row

It felt uncomfortable at times

And despite being a girl who isn’t usually short on things to say, there were some days I didn’t feel like doing it

But I did it anyway

This challenge proved to me that I am more than capable of following through on the things I say I’m going to do

And that I can be my authentic, unfiltered, unapologetic self

In a loud, opinionated, and often intimidating industry without anything bad happeningšŸ•ŗ

You may have seen that become more evident in my content as the 100 days progressed

Confidence in your ability to do something isn’t found in the ā€˜perfect’ moment, but in your ability to keep the promises you make to yourself

If you’re ready to become the woman who does what she says she’s going to do, and you want someone in your corner to help you get there
