Rip currents can be dangerous so it’s important to be aware of them and know how to stay safe.

1) Don’t Panic: if you find yourself caught in a rip , stay calm. Panicking can exhaust you .

2) Do Not Fight The Current: Rip currents are powerful and move faster then an Olympic swimmer. instead of trying to swim directly back to shore, swim parallel to the shoreline . This can help you escape the rip currents pull .

Avoid these mistakes when learning to surf .

1)Skipping Lessons : Don’t try to teach yourself to surf join a surf school or 2/3 lessons to gain valuable guidance on techniques, safety and surf etiquette.

2) Choosing the Wrong Board: Beginners often choose boards that are too small or advanced for there skill level. Opt for a long, stable and wide soft top to get the ball rolling.

Remember more foam = more fun

3)Just have Fun: This should be rule number one but saving the best for last .

Just have fun , surfing is hard and it’s a never ending learning experience . Too many people get discouraged if you don’t catch waves immediately or stand up on there first go.

Perseverance is key, surfing is about the journey not the destination and everyone has there own pace .

The more you wipeout the faster you will learn .

See you outback
