The Fermoy U14 squad hosted Ashton today in Round 5 of their Rock/Rave League campaign. This was a rescheduled fixture, with the original mid-December date postponed due to weather. No such issues today, as the team played in near perfect conditions. This match was a top of the table clash, with Fermoy looking to retain it's winning status, and Ashton seeking to tople the league leaders.
Having trained really well over the Christmas, Fermoy was sharp from the tip-off and worked 2 excellent goals in the first quarter. Another brace in the 2nd quarter had Fermoy 4-0 to the good at halftime, however, Ashton was settling more into the match and getting to grips with the home team.
The 3rd quarter was much more even, with Ashton scoring from a save rebound.
The Fermoy players regrouped in the final quarter, scoring 3 excellent goals to finish out as 7-1 winners.
This was an excellent showing against a very good Ashton outfit, eventhough the scoreline didn't do justice to their valiant efforts.
Well done to all of the players today on another great performance, and to the parents for their continued support.

Saturday 29Nov2025 saw the Fermoy HC U14 squad competing in Round 4 of their Rock/Rave League campaign. The opponent for this home fixture was Harlequins. Despite player illness again this week, Fermoy fielded a competitive team for this fixture.
The players started the game well with 2 early goals. Another brace in the 2nd quarter had Fermoy leading 4-0 at half-time. A further 4 goals in the 2nd half ensured an 8-0 win. With 6 different scorers, this was a very solid performance by the team.
We look forward to the next outing against Ashton in Round at home in Fermoy on 14Dec.

Huge congratulations to all our U10s in action in Harlequins today! They put in a fantastic performance and played brilliantly. Remarkably, nearly half of the team are brand new to hockey, yet they’re already making tremendous progress. The Fermoy U14 Hockey team hosted Cresent HC (Limerick) at Loreto today in Round 3 of their Rock/Rave League campaign. Despite several players being unavailable due to illness (we wish them a speedy recovery), Fermoy fielded a strong squad for this encounter. Fermoy started the stronger, going 2-0 up in the 1st quarter. Cresent responded well to the Fermoy pressure as the game evened out, with Fermoy leading 3-0 going into the final quarter. Credit to Fermoy, the players increased the tempo and scored 4 unanswered goals, ending the game 7-0 to the good.
This was a great team effort in tough conditions, with all players getting good game time. Well done especially to Méabh Smiddy who made her debut for Fermoy HC at this level - she performed really well.
Thanks to Katie O'Connell for umpiring today, to the parents for their ongoing support, and to the players for their dedication and effort.
The girls will play Harlequins in Round 4 at 11:00 on 29Nov at Loreto - please support if available.

What a fantastic day for Fermoy Hockey at yesterday’s U12 blitz! With 5 clubs, 20 teams, and over 120 players competing for 2.5 hours, the future of hockey is looking very bright.

A huge thank you to the 7 U14 players who stepped up to umpire the matches—your generosity and support for your younger teammates didn’t go unnoticed.

Grateful also to the parents who ran the tuck shop and helped with pitch coordination and timekeeping. Your efforts allowed my fellow mentors and me to concentrate fully on the games.

Fermoy proudly fielded 27 players across 4 teams, all of whom gave outstanding performances and did the club proud. Special recognition goes to our 2 U10 players who joined in and proved more than capable of rising to the challenge.

The Fermoy U14 Hockey team took to the pitch for Round 2 of their Rock/Rave League campaign under sunny skies at Loreto today, facing off against Clonakilty. Fermoy came out firing, securing a 2-0 lead in the opening quarter and extending it to 5-0 by halftime with relentless pressure on a resilient Clonakilty defence.

Clonakilty responded with determination in the second half, challenging Fermoy with sustained pressure. However, Fermoy held firm and finished the match with a commanding 8-0 victory.

The fixture also provided a great chance to rotate players and explore different positions—well done to all involved! Huge thanks to the ever-supportive parents and fans.
