Throughout the season we've seen fantastic matches, packed finals, brilliant sportsmanship, fierce rivalries and an atmosphere that proved local pool is alive and well in Avondhu.
Now it's time to make Season 2 even bigger.
We're inviting new pubs from across the Avondhu district to get involved and become part of a league that's growing from strength to strength.

🏆 O'Donnells Crowned Inaugural Cup Champions After an Unforgettable Night of Pool! 🎱🔥
What a game... What a night... What an incredible way to bring the first-ever Avondhu & District Pool League season to a close.
A packed Irwin's Bar provided the perfect setting for the second leg of the Cup Final, with a savage crowd creating an electric atmosphere long before the first ball was struck. The tension was unbelievable, with every player knowing that one shot could be the difference between lifting the Cup or going home empty-handed.
Holding a slender 5–4 lead from the first leg, O'Donnells knew they would have to withstand everything the league champions could throw at them.
And from the very first break, they showed exactly why they deserved to be there.
O'Donnells struck first to stretch their lead before backing it up with another huge victory to move into a commanding position. But Irwin's, who had been outstanding all season and had already claimed the league title, weren't about to surrender on their own tables.
The home side responded brilliantly, taking the next two frames to roar back into the contest and remind everyone why they had finished top of the league.
But this final wasn't just about the scoreline...
It was about nerve.
It was about pressure.
It was about producing your best when every single shot mattered.
And that's exactly what both teams did.
It seemed like every frame went right down to the black ball, with safety exchanges, tactical battles and incredible pots keeping the packed crowd on the edge of their seats. Every time one team looked ready to pull away, the other answered straight back.
With the atmosphere reaching fever pitch, O'Donnells dug deep once more, producing three massive frame wins in succession to cross the finish line and secure a memorable 10–6 aggregate victory, meaning the doubles weren't even required.
The celebrations that followed told the story.
Months of hard work... determination... and belief had paid off.

A huge word of praise must also go to Irwin's Bar. League champions and worthy finalists, they played their part in a Cup Final that showcased everything that is great about local pool. They fought until the very end and were outstanding hosts on the night.
Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who has supported the league throughout its inaugural season. To the players, captains, pubs, sponsors, families and supporters who filled the venues week after week—you have made this league a tremendous success.
When a few lads got together earlier this year with the idea of bringing pool back to the Avondhu district, nobody could have imagined the crowds, the atmosphere and the standard of pool we'd witness over the past few months.
From the very first league match to the final black ball of the Cup Final, this season has been an incredible journey.
The first chapter has been written.
Now let's make Season Two even bigger.

🏆 The Stage Is Set... Who Will Make History This Friday Night? 🎱🔥
What a season it has been for the Avondhu & District Pool League.
Just a few months ago, four pubs came together with one goal—to bring competitive pool back to the district. Since then we've witnessed fantastic matches, great sportsmanship, packed venues and two finals that have shown just how exciting local pool can be.
The Shield Final was an incredible advertisement for the league, with drama right to the very last black ball. Now, attention turns to the biggest prize of all...

The first leg in Glanworth was a classic.
O'Donnells burst into a 3–0 lead, only for league champions Irwin's to fight their way back into the contest. After a gripping finish, O'Donnells travel to Shanballymore with the slimmest of advantages, leading 5–4.
Just one frame separates the teams.
League champions Irwin's are chasing the league and cup double on home tables, while O'Donnells are aiming to deny them and become the first-ever Avondhu & District Pool League Cup Champions.
With only one frame between the sides, every shot, every clearance and every tactical battle could decide where the Cup ends up.
The support throughout the league has been unbelievable, and after the atmosphere at the recent finals, we're hoping for another packed house to round off what has been a brilliant inaugural season.

🛡️ From 8–4 Down to the Brink... Walsh's Survive an Incredible Comeback to Lift the Inaugural Shield! 🏆🎱

If anyone ever wondered what makes local sport so special, they only had to be in Walsh's Bar, Kildorrery for the second leg of the Avondhu & District Pool League Shield Final.
This wasn't just a pool match... it was an absolute rollercoaster.

Trailing 6–3 from the first leg, Ollie's Bar arrived knowing they needed something special. And from the very first break, they showed they weren't ready to surrender. They claimed the opening frame to cut the deficit to 6–4, giving themselves a glimmer of hope.

But Walsh's had other ideas.
Displaying all the composure of champions, they responded immediately, taking the next two singles to stretch their lead to 8–4 in the race to 10. At that stage, it looked as though the Shield was destined to stay in Walsh's Bar.
Or so everyone thought...

What followed was one of the finest comebacks seen in the league this season.
With their backs firmly against the wall, Ollie's refused to give in. They dug deep, fought for every frame and reeled off three superb singles victories in a row, closing the gap to 8–7 and completely changing the atmosphere inside the packed venue.

Suddenly, belief was everywhere.
The momentum carried straight into the doubles, where Ollie's produced another outstanding performance to level the final at 8–8.
From looking dead and buried... they were now one frame away from completing an unbelievable comeback.

The tension was incredible.

Every player, every supporter and every spectator knew just how much was riding on every shot.

Walsh's somehow found another gear, edging the next doubles after a brilliant tactical battle to move 9–8 ahead, leaving one final match to decide everything.

And what a finale it was.

The deciding doubles had absolutely everything—nerves, quality, pressure and drama.

Ollie's fought to the very end and created the chance they had dreamed of. With the black ball sitting there, they had the opportunity to force a dramatic tie-breaker...
The shot looked good...
The crowd held its breath...
But heartbreak followed as the black ball lipped the pocket and stayed out.
Walsh's needed no second invitation.
Showing remarkable composure under immense pressure, they stepped up and produced a superb cut into the corner pocket to sink the black and spark scenes of celebration as they were crowned the first-ever Avondhu & District Pool League Shield Champions! 🏆
Massive congratulations to Walsh's Bar on a fantastic achievement.

And huge credit must also go to Ollie's Bar, whose courage, determination and never-say-die attitude made this one of the most memorable matches of the inaugural season. They pushed the champions right to the very last shot and can hold their heads high.

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who attended over both legs. The support has been incredible, the atmosphere has been electric, and the respect shown between all four clubs throughout the season has been first class.

Tonight, it's all on the line as the Avondhu & District Pool League Shield Final reaches its conclusion.

After a thrilling first leg in Ollie's Bar, Walsh's hold a 6–3 advantage, but there's still plenty of pool to be played, and nothing will be taken for granted.
The opening leg had everything—great quality, big pressure moments and some incredible tactical battles, with both teams producing some excellent pool throughout the night. Now it all comes down to one final evening.
Can Walsh's make home advantage count and lift the inaugural Avondhu & District Shield, or can Ollie's produce a memorable comeback to turn the tie on its head?
One thing is guaranteed—there'll be no shortage of drama.

🛡️ Walsh's Take Command After Entertaining Shield Final First Leg 🎱

The opening leg of the inaugural Avondhu & District Pool League Shield Final certainly lived up to expectations, with another fantastic night's pool and a brilliant atmosphere in Ollie's Bar, Kildorrery.
Walsh's made the perfect start, taking the opening frame to edge 1–0 in front. Ollie's responded immediately in the second, levelling the match at 1–1 and setting the tone for what would become a cracking contest.
Walsh's regained the advantage in the third frame before producing one of the performances of the night in the fourth. After an epic battle between both players, Walsh's edged it to open up a 3–1 lead.
To their credit, Ollie's refused to let the match slip away. They hit back in the fifth before claiming the sixth after a titanic tactical battle, drawing level once again at 3–3 and leaving everything hanging in the balance.
With momentum swinging from one team to the other, the seventh and final singles match proved massive. Walsh's held their nerve under pressure to claim the frame and take a narrow 4–3 lead into the doubles.
The doubles would ultimately prove decisive.
Walsh's struck first to move 5–3 ahead, leaving Ollie's needing a big finish to keep the tie within touching distance. However, Walsh's weren't to be denied. They produced another composed performance in the final doubles to seal a deserved 6–3 victory, giving themselves a valuable three-frame advantage heading into the return leg.

A huge credit goes to both teams for producing another excellent advertisement for the Avondhu & District Pool League. The standard of pool, the competitive spirit and the sportsmanship shown throughout the night were a credit to everyone involved.

Once again, the support on the night was outstanding. It's fantastic to see players and supporters turning out to back the league and help create such a brilliant atmosphere. That's what local sport is all about, and it's great to see the league continuing to grow.

Walsh's Bar now head into the return leg on home tables with a 6–3 advantage, but Ollie's Bar will be determined to fight back and keep their hopes of lifting the inaugural Avondhu & District Shield alive.

We're expecting another great night's pool, plenty of quality, and a fantastic atmosphere. If you're in the area, call in and support the players as they battle it out in what promises to be a cracking local derby.

🏆 One Frame in It! Cup Final Heads for Dramatic Decider 🎱

What a night of pool in O'Donnells Bar, Glanworth!
The opening leg of the inaugural Avondhu & District Pool League Cup Final had everything—quality pool, big pressure moments, brilliant support and a savage atmosphere from start to finish.
O'Donnells flew out of the traps, delighting the home crowd by racing into a 3–0 lead and putting themselves firmly in control early on.
But champions don't give up easily.
League winners Irwin's Bar showed exactly why they finished top of the league, digging deep and battling their way back into the match. Frame by frame they chipped away at the lead to leave it 4–3, with everything resting on the two doubles.
With the tension at its highest, O'Donnells edged the first doubles to move 5–3 ahead and looked to have one hand on the trophy. But Irwin's weren't finished. They responded once again, taking the final doubles to leave the first leg poised at 5–4 in O'Donnells' favour.
Just one frame separates the sides, and it couldn't be set up any better for the decider.
A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support both teams. The atmosphere throughout the night was absolutely brilliant and a credit to everyone involved.
It was especially great to see players from Walsh's Bar and Ollie's Bar making the trip to Glanworth to support the final. That's exactly what the Avondhu & District Pool League is all about—healthy competition on the table and great camaraderie off it. It's fantastic to see all four clubs getting behind each other as we continue to grow the league.
