Cobh Wanderers Afc

The club are delighted to announce Jason Abbott as our new player/head coach for the coming season.

Jason brings with him a wealth of experience from the League of Ireland with Ramblers and the Munster Senior League with U.C.C. and of course the Wanderers. Jason is a hugely enthusiastic young coach with big ambitions for himself and the club going forward. Jason is of course from a family steeped in Cobh footballing history and he is determined to write another chapter here in our club. We wish Jason and his management team, along with the players, every success next season and beyond. We would encourage our fans to get behind all the lads from the start of the season. Jason is pictured with club chairman Frank McCall in Old Church Park with Jerseys displaying our club’s main sponsors.

Cobh GAA

Cobh had an away win today against Argideen Rangers of Timoleague in County football league. Cobh led 1-9 to no score at halftime having played with the very strong wind. A mature performance in the 2nd half saw Cobh take the win 1-11 to 0-7. There were well earned refreshments for the team in Courtmacsherry afterwards.

Cobh Camogie

Our under 14s were away this morning to Rockbán in the County League Semi Final! While the result did not go our way today the team showed real determination and pride battling hard from start to finish. They truly did themselves proud today and we know this bunch of girls have a great future in Camogie, with their attention now turning towards preparing for Championship! Captain today was Aoibhe O Sullivan

Great win last night for our U14A team in the last 16 of the Leonard Gould Cup. In absolute torrential rain the lads played some great football. Goals from Jack Tighe, Yatharth Chaturvedi and two from Tyler Crowley gave us the 4-1 win. Thanks a million to Douglas Hall for a well spirited game. Next up in the cup, a quarter final fixture Monday night !!!

A well deserved 2-0 win tonight for Cobh Ramblers over Kerry Football Club.

Ramblers were much the better team throughout over a poor rudderless Kerry side and after taking a two nil lead into the half time break the Ramblers saw out the second half to consolidate their position in the play off chase.

Springfield Ramblers
Some tough results recently for Springfield Senior Women, but here are two fantastic goals from recent performances, including a brilliant individual effort from 16 year old Lily Baumann. The second coming from Amy Burns.
This is a very young squad who are fully committed, working hard every week, and focused on constant improvement. The results will come, but the standards and quality are already there to see.

Cobh Wanderers Afc

The seniors pulled off a late and very dramatic win over our Dublin visitors Wayside Celtic today in the last 16 of the Intermediate Cup. Wanderers struggled to get going in the first half and went behind after only nine minutes. Wanderers equalised in the 22nd minute when an Oisín Dorgan cross forced the defender to put into his own net, under pressure from Charlie Sillett. Wayside retook the lead from the penalty spot on 32 minutes and extended that lead four minutes later with a goal that looked like the catalyst for a comprehensive win for the visitors. A big moment in the game came in the 41st minute when Dorgan crossed for Sillett to scramble the ball past the Wayside keeper to narrow the lead to a singe goal going into the break despite Waysides dominance of the half. The narrow deficit gave Wanderers belief going into the second half and while Wayside failed to capatilise on some really good chances created in front of goal along with some heroic defensive displays it was Nathan O' Connell who drew Wanderers level with a superb strike form 30 yards that sailed over the keeper to the roof of the net. O' Connell was the player who set up the winner in the 90th minute with a deft chip over the Wayside defence to pick out Ciarán Griffin who controlled brilliantly before slotting home for six yards out. A fantastic result for the club today and for the efforts of Stephen Henderson, his management team and of course all the squad. Big thanks to all the supporters who showed up today and to the Ballynoe Inn and Rushbrooke Centra for looking after both clubs post game. Thanks also to D2K Events for their sponsorship. The team return to league action this Wednesday against UCC at home in another vital relegation battle.
