Rathgormack Clonea Comeragh Amenity Area

Rathgormack Clonea Comeragh Amenity Area An All Weather Community pitch that will cater for a number of sports in both parishes of Rathgormack

In 2013, a group of locals organised a meeting and identified the need for an All Weather Pitch. We approached Waterford Leader Partnership and with the funding received as well as long years of fundraising, we finally achieved our dream here in July 2019 and opened our state of the art All Weather Pitch and Amenity Area! We are continuously fundraising so if you would like to get involved, check out the posts below, follow our Instagram and check out our website https://rathgormack.ie

Great excitement in the village on Friday with Rás na mBan, Ireland’s only women’s international stage race, passing through Rathgormack. Expected times are from 1:15 to 1:35pm according to the link below. Give them a cheer if you see them, they’ll be heading into Carrick via Crehana and over Seskin Hill to finish at Mollerans. 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️

Rás na mBan Stage 3 in Carrick-on-Suir Friday 4th September

This year marks the 20th edition of Rás na mBan and the 40th anniversary of the 1986 John Hearn Memorial Stage Race.

Held right here in Carrick-on-Suir, the John Hearn Memorial was Ireland's first international multi-day road race for women and the direct predecessor of Rás na mBan.

In a fitting tribute to that heritage, Friday's race will start and finish within metres of where that pioneering 1986 peloton first set off. The action begins with a rollout from the Carrick United grounds, Carrickbeg, at 11:00am, followed by the ceremonial start of the official race at 11:15am outside Hearns Hardware, Carrick-on-Suir.

Please note that there will be a brief traffic delay of approximately five minutes while the race gets underway.

The riders will then tackle a demanding 102.5km circuit through Ninemilehouse, Mullinahone and Fethard. The race then returns to Carrick-on-Suir for a thrilling finale, with the riders facing one last test on the slopes of Seskin Hill. The climb is expected to split the field and create plenty of excitement around Carrickbeg, before the riders descend towards the finish on Coolnamuck Road, near St Molleran's GAA, at approximately 1.55pm.

We encourage everyone to come out and support the riders as they pass through the town and experience a piece of Irish cycling history in action.
