I am currently in third year in sports strength and conditioning in Thurles. As part of my course i have set up this page to promote myself as a strength and conditioning coach. I will be writing a few blogs in the next few weeks and will be posting videos of myself learning new training methods in class and also if i find different training methods online. If anyone has any question that they want to ask me just drop me a message on chat and i will be happy to answer any question ye have.

This is another test we did in class this week. This test is called the T-test. This test the players ability build up in acceleration and decrease speed over short distances. This also test the ability to turn at fast paces. This is a small video of me preforming the T-test.

This is another test we used this week with the speed gates. The name of the test is call the L test. This test show the ability to chance direction at a fast pace. This test is more focused on player in a field sports environment such as GAA, Soccer and Rugby. This test will only take 2 or 3 seconds to conduct but will greatly enhance the players agility.

This week in class we were using the speed gates again.The test we did is call the 505 Agility Test. This test shows the player acceleration and deceleration all in one test. The player has to do a 10 meter sprint till they hit the speed gate then a 5 meter sprint to a cone turn at the cone and sprint back through the speed gates. This is me doing the test.

The 20 meter sprint test.

This week in class we used speed gates. We tested our standing 10 meter and 20 meter sprint also we did a 10 meter flying sprint. We will be able to see the difference between the standing 10 meter sprint and the 10 m flying sprint. The main aim of the test is to test how quick you can build up speed over a short distance and how quick you can go over the 20 meter. This is just a video of me doing a flying 10 meter sprint in class on Thursday.

In class yesterday we were doing Loaded Squat Jumps with no weight right up to body weight on the jump mats. This will help to show if the player need to work on power or strength exercise in their programme. This was a jump for me with 80Kg on the bar got a jump of 7.43cm. Not to bad for a first attempt.

The last few weeks in college we have been doing these types of jumps on the jump mat. It has been hard to get used to players jumping and to see if the player are performing the jumps correctly. I think this is a good video for players starting off these jumps to understand the movement better.
