She woke up to find an animal sniffing her face before making a horrifying discovery beside her in bed.
She had fallen asleep while feeding her three-month-old at her home in Watford, Hertfordshire.
She was startled awake when an animal began sniffing her face.
When she looked down, the 37-year-old mother noticed blood beside her baby.
She discovered four bloody puncture wounds on her daughter's head.
Carly grabbed her infant daughter and chased the wild animal to the top of the stairs.
She then ran to check on her one-year-old child in another room.
The mother had left her back door open during the evening.
Carly said the four puncture marks "looked like a dog had bitten a football".
She rushed the baby to Watford General Hospital at around 9.45pm on Thursday.
Doctors confirmed there were no skull fractures or brain injuries, administering tetanus jabs and antibiotics.
Carly believes the wild animal may have been trying to drag her young child away.
And even when leaving for the hospital, the family encountered a fox approaching their front door.
The family reported the incident to Watford Borough Council but found private deterrents cost £300 for pellets.
Carly believes local foxes are becoming "out of control" and reaching a point where they are far too comfortable around humans.
However, Trevor Williams from The Fox Project maintains these incidents are exceptionally rare and likely involved a young cub investigating open doors.
