Portnablagh Crab Crawl results Wednesday 26th August. Winner of the Handicap swim 1st Sharon Gildea,2nd Olivia Galbraith,3rd Isabel Galbraith. Closest to their predicted times in a mad selection method.1st Patrick Dunnion 2nd,Ruauri Gill,3rd Macha Dunn Donnelly. Fastest Daniel Smith 32 swimmers on a beautiful evening. Thank you to everyone for their patience this evening, it was hectic working out the times and I'm sure there is mistakes galore,but hopefully enjoyable as well. Thanks to Rea and Reate for the help with registration and finishing times. To Hulio and Matthew on kayak support,always appreciated by everyone swimming. Thanks to Brian Gormley for the extra prizes and Kathy Dunn Revive Dunfanaghy for sponsoring the coffee vouchers, could not be done without you all.

Portnablagh Crab Crawl. Wednesday 26th August. The final one of the summer series. And it's going to be a Handicap event. The slowest swimmers go first and the fastest swimmer goes last and hopefully everyone will finish at the same time. I have a good data base of times built up over the summer(s) so should be able to give everyone a start time. Anyone new can still do the predicted swim section. All I ask is that anyone planning on swimming on Wednesday evening, comments with their name in the comments below. ON THE Gartan swimmers page. # # # # # usual story otherwise. Registration from 6.15pm Swim starts at 7pm sharp. ( for the slowest swimmer.) Tow floats are compulsory and a disclaimer waiver must be signed. Wetsuits or skins it's your choice but EVERYONE SWIMS ENTIRELY AT THEIR OWN RISK. 20euro to enter family groups 20e as well. 300mts/500mts 10euro. All proceeds raised from the swim will be shared between the RNLI lifeboats and the Donegal Sheephaven Subaqua Search and recovery unit. Coffee vouchers from Revive Dunfanaghy for the three closest times plus the fastest 1K swim. Might be able to organise a few extra prizes for the Handicap section plus our coveted Perpetual Trophy 🏆 for the winner. Additionally kayak support always appreciated if anyone is available on the night.

Sheephaven bay swim Saturday 22nd August. Last months rescheduled swim takes place this Saturday with a few changes. The swim will be across the bay but will start on the beach at Killyhowey rather than at Duncap Head. Hopefully a slightly more sheltered swim given the current weather conditions. Registration at Race HQ@ Robinsons on the pier road Portnablagh from 9.30am-11am. Before getting on Boyce coaches to transfer to Killyhowey beach where the swim will start at 12noon. The first swimmers should arrive at the finish line at Portnablagh beach at around 12.40pm. Prizes for the fastest Ladies and Gents, both in wetsuits and skins are sponsored by the RNLI. As it's a Predict your time fun swim,similar to the crab crawl swims, we have five Prizes for those who come closest to their predicted times for the 2.5K swim. Tow floats are compulsory as is a brightly coloured swim hat, wetsuits or skins it's your choice but everyone swims entirely at their own risk. Additionally kayak support will always be appreciated if any experienced kayakers are available. The Sheephaven Subaqua club and Boyd Robinson have a team of leasure boats providing safety cover on the water. Parking is limited at Portnablagh so please park safety with consideration for safety support vehicles and the local community.

Portnablagh Crab Crawl results 19th August. Fastest Mark Grennan 16.30secs. Getting his warm up swim done before the Sheephaven Bay Swim on Saturday. Closest to their predicted times . No problem with pacing the distance, Rea Doherty on her first Crab Crawl of the year. 21.20secs 0.00secs.Patrick Durning 16.25secs.-5secs.Brian Gormley 21.55secs -5secs. Plus had 3 on 10secs off their predicted times. Dave Finch ,Pablo and Matthew Guidi The family Guidi from Argentina originally and living in England made good use of the family package with six members swimming. Great to see so many swimming (30) on what was looking like a miserable evening weather wise. Cheers to everyone who turned up. Last one of the summer series next Wednesday evening, hopefully will be a Handicap event with the slowest going first and the fastest last. Places, not times to decide the winners.

With the forecast being unpredictable (it's changing direction every day on the apps) we are going to give you a slightly different route. Distance between 2.4k and 2.8k depending on the first marker. We will bus you to Killahoey beach and let you swim back across the bay to the beach at Portnablagh.
