One of my favourite things about career events like the Career Connect Ireland in Dublin last week?

The conversations that happen in the margins.

Not just on stage (though that was a joy), but the ones afterwards.

👉 The person who waited quietly to the side to ask one question.
👉 The one who said "I've never told anyone this, but..." at the CV clinic.
👉 The one who just needed someone to say: you're not starting from scratch, you're starting from experience.

I spoke on the panel about career transitions and personal branding, but really, we were talking about PEOPLE.

• People who've built careers that look great on paper but feel like someone else's life.

• People navigating redundancy and trying to figure out what's next.

• People who are ready for more but don't know how to articulate it yet.

If that's you right now... you're not lost, even if it feels like it.

You're just at the beginning of a very important conversation with yourself.

And those conversations? They change everything.

If you're at one of those crossroads, my DMs are open for real conversations and honest reflections.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of being a panelist, review CVs and hold real career conversations at the Career Connect Ireland event in Dublin.

Alongside Tony, Yemi and Funmito, we explored some of the biggest questions professionals are facing right now around career direction, career change, confidence, and standing out in a competitive market.

One of the highlights for me was reviewing dozens of CVs throughout the day and having 1:1 conversations with the attendees.

But what struck me most wasn't the CVs themselves.

It was how many talented & experienced people struggle to recognise and communicate the value they bring.

The same themes came up again and again:

• "I'm not sure how to position my experience"
• "I don't know what makes me stand out"
• "I've done so much, but I don't know how to put it on paper"
• "I want a change, but I don't know where to start"

These conversations reminded me that a CV is rarely the real challenge. It's a byproduct.

More often, it's clarity, confidence, and being able to see your own strengths (AND DIRECTION) objectively.

I was incredibly impressed by everyone who queued patiently for feedback, asked thoughtful questions, and put themselves out there.

That takes courage. 👏

If you attended yesterday, be proud of yourself. Investing time in your career, seeking feedback, and exploring what's possible are all steps that many people never take.

A huge thank you to Career Connect Ireland and special thanks to Vivian for organising the event and creating a space where meaningful career conversations could happen. And P.S. - Thank you very much for such a thoughtful gift!

It was also fantastic to meet Ed, Conor and Kamal for the first time! It's always fantastic to share perspectives and support and learn from each other! 👏

I left feeling absolutely inspired by the ambition, openness and determination of the people I met throughout the day.

And as I always say, you don't need to hit the rock bottom or be completely burned out to seek support!

Support exists and is there for a reason đź«‚

There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from doing work that doesn't feel like you anymore:

You're competent, people rely on you and on paper, everything looks fine.

But something has quietly shifted... and you know it.

👉 Maybe you've been diagnosed recently and suddenly a lot of your past makes sense.
👉 Maybe redundancy has cracked open a door you weren't expecting.
👉 Maybe you've just grown, and the role you're in hasn't grown with you.

That feeling ISN'T a midlife crisis.

And it's not ingratitude or you being difficult.

It's you being ready.

Ready for work that actually reflects who you've become: your values, strengths, the things that light you up rather than drain you.

You don't have to have it all figured out.

Actually, the best thing that you can do for yourself is to stop pretending the discomfort isn't there.

đź’¬ And if this landed, save it for the day you need to hear it again.đź«‚

Have you ever asked yourself: “Do I actually enjoy my work… or have I just learned how to survive it?”

So many neurodivergent adults only recognise themselves later in life, often through their child’s diagnosis.

Suddenly, years of exhaustion, masking and feeling “different” at work finally make sense.

And the hardest part? Many are successful on paper. But internally, they’re burnt out from forcing themselves to fit careers that don’t fit them.

Just because you can do the job… doesn’t mean it’s right for you anymore.

Career fulfilment starts when you stop building around survival and start building around who you actually are.

If this is you, it might be worth taking a closer look at. Not at what your options are, you probably know this already. But at what next steps should look like in your situation, without second-guessing.

If you’ve ever thought:
“I’ve outgrown this… but I don’t have a reason to leave”

This is usually where people stay stuck the longest.
Especially if you’re a Team Lead or Operations Manager.

👉 If this sounds like you, there’s a link in my bio to talk it through.
