Wild West Run

Wild West Run Wild West Run - Kenmare, Co Kerry, Ireland. Next event - Saturday 28th February 2015 Run on the Kerry Way trail. Launched in 2011, 2014 will be our 4th event.

Wild West Run is one of Ireland's toughest & most beautiful trail and country road events in Ireland. Our course is 15 miles starting at the Black Valley, onwards to the Old Kerry Way and finishing with a downhill run into the beautiful Kenmare. This event will be organised in association with Kenmare AC. We will be limiting numbers and offering all previous Wild West Runners first opportunity to

enter. This is one running event not to be missed. Full race details will be confirmed in early December 2014. Lots more COMING SOON ! WWR Crew

Wonderful to meet Wild West Runners, Martin Deenan (pictured) and 3 times winner, James Doran, at the recent Amsterdam Marathon. Always good to see a Kerry top on our travels but we were moved to see Martin sporting his WWR t-shirt from our event 4 years ago 😍 Lovely chat about all things running and possibly bringing Wild West Run back again. One week later, we bumped into more friends from Kerry at Dublin Marathon and the chat again was about bringing Wild West Run back.

We had 5 great years working with many incredible people. Thanks everyone for your kind words. We we will go away and see if we could possibly bring ‘Wild West Run’ back - supported by a major running brand😊

Happy new year to all our Wild West Runners! Hoping you are all fighting fit, injury free and looking forward to lots of great running in 2016. Sean will be back from NZ next month and we will be back in touch about WWR 2016 plans. Keep in touch and ‘stay tuned’ as lots more to shout about trail running wise in 2016. WWR team

Folks, many thanks for your recent messages and feedback in general from many of you on 5 years of Wild West Run. We truly appreciate it. We have been looking at some fresh angles and new ideas for Wild West Run and some other new trail running events for 2016 and beyond. After 5 fantastic years, we felt it would be good to freshen things up rather than do the same event at the same time in the same way.

At the same time, One of our organising team is currently recovering from an operation while the other is away on travels to New Zealand. As such, we also felt it best not to organise another WWR for the last Saturday in February 2016 due to personal circumstances. This has been very fluid, so apologies if any of you were looking forward to WWR Feb 2016. We look forward to bringing you all other Wild West Run events - with a difference - in the future and we truly hope you will all join us again.

Please keep in touch with us via this page. We will be making more event announcements in early 2016,so you will all be the first to know. If you would like us to organise more WWRs, do let us know - and in perhaps in other places also. Drop us a PM and we will be happy to look at all options.

Finally, Kenmare, Killarney and Co. Kerry are close to our hearts, We have loved meeting all of you and have nothing but brilliant memories. It has been hard, hard work but the smiles, laughs and goodwill always make it all worthwhile. Huge thanks to the following people who have been amazing:
Tessa and family, Conor and all at Kenmare AC.
John Lenihan - the legend, our legend
Seamus Murphy, Simon,Stephen and all the Mangan family
Mizuno Running
Killarney National Park
......and to every one of you who has ran Wild West Run. We will be back! Wishing every one of you a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS and PEACEFUL NEW YEAR. Best Wishes, WWR Crew

Pictures coming in of WWR spectators sleeping in the back of cars (thanks Pa) and another of 3 boys from Co Down prioritising with ‘recovery Guinness’. Keep them coming in. We will do a montage and post here on Facebook. Any pics before, during or after the race.

Special mention to the 3 Co. Down lads Simon Robinson, Patrick Marshall and Stephen Dobbs who ran 1.56 at WWR today. It’s a 500 round mile trip for 13.1 miles but a fantastic run from the 3 friends running together (and a few Guinness) makes it all worthwhile. Well done to the 3 of you,the training paid off!
