From September 2025, Carlow Chess Club will be meeting in St Catherine's near Carlow Train Station for the 4th year. Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm.
Meet around 33 evenings in the year for membership €100.
We have 1 team in the Leinster League

Carlow Chess Club Had the absolute pleasure to Host Tarun and Trisha Kanyamarala. Tarun an International Master and working his way to becoming Irelands first home grown GM. Trisha is Irelands first Women's International Master and no doubt will be a Women's GrandMaster very soon.
The players got to witness the skill they possess first hand and what a treat. Thank you Daya and Nandita. Happy Big 20 Birthday to Tarun and we hope our paths cross again in the near Future.

Hi All
Just an update for the season ahead.
There are going to be a number of changes.
Firstly around fees:
Cost is €100 for the year, can be paid instalments. This is to cover Rent, Insurance and League Fees. Payment can be done via Revolut or Cash to myself.
There will be 33 Evenings, so good value.
Start back - Wednesday 21st August 2024 - Run Through to Wednesday May 28th 2025.
The 8 weeks off of the 41 period above will be:

Wednesday 30 October 2024
Wednesday 18 December 2024
Wednesday 25 December 2024
Wednesday 1 January 2025
Wednesday 8 January 2025
Wednesday 19 March 2025
Wednesday 26 March 2025

Hi All,

Another change is around age groups.

Any kid under 12 must be supervised by an guardian as long as they are in the club.

Unfortunately, in the past kids attention span has not been great and has ended up disturbing other players. I need too make sure that measures are put in place to prevent this from happening in future.

I would advise that, young kids only come to the club for a limited time period, as 2 hours is too much for very young kids.
