Its mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for young people ( Secondary School age) in the Blackrock, Haggardstown & surrounding areas to socialise face-to-face and have fun. Blackrock Youth Club (BYC) is a youth club for Secondary School teens from 1st to 3rd year (members). Our mission is to provide a safe, welcoming environment for teens to have fun and socialise with other young peop
le in our community. Our members are offered a range of activities in various rooms in the Community Centre from sports, dancing, board and card games, play station and a hang out/chill zone where they can listen to music and chat to their friends. There are also themed events at different times of the year. In addition, BYC offers a unique opportunity for Junior Leaders (young people who have completed their Junior Cert) to develop their planning and leadership skills. They run and manage the tuck shop and other activities with the young people. They also learn the value of being a volunteer and the benefit that can bring to a community, providing a positive example to the young people who attend BYC. BYC runs every Friday from 7.30pm to 9pm during term time. Annual Registration fee is €10 and the nightly fee is €2. A tuck shop is available each night which proves popular with the young people where they can purchase sweets and drinks.
