Celtic Park Annual Astro Tournament

Celtic Park is holding its annual astro tournament on the 22nd of July in DCU astro pitches. New players welcome on the day PM for full details. Also anyone interested entering a team PM. Teams consist of 6 players tournaments details on the day.

Preseason training is back time to get fit! Celtic park is back in training for the new season ahead. New members welcome training Tuesdays and Thursdays in Beaumont woods 7.15. We have 2 senior teams and an Over 35s team. PM if interested or require more details.

Update:

Celtic Park FC's pre-season preparations are under way as of Tuesday the 5th of July.

Training times:

Tuesdays @ 7 pm at The park, Beaumont woods (open sessions)
Thursdays @ 7 pm at The park, Beaumont woods (open sessions)

All new players are welcome to join in on open session at The Park, Beaumont Woods ("Our Lady of Mercy" college) taking place ahead of th coming season kicking off towards the end of August.

Happy 65th to Aidan
Lynch of Celtic Park fame

Aidan Lynch took to the pitch for the umpteenth time in a Celtic Park jersey on Saturday. The next day Easter Sunday he celebrated his 65th birthday.
He’s a year shy of being three times the age of referee on the day, Mark Gallagher! Amazing stuff really.
So what’s he like? Well he started on Saturday and the opposition Ely/Woodlawn equalised barely a minute after he left the field. Coincidence? Maybe not, he certainly talks a great game as most of his teammates would tell you.
Aidan was a proud man when a Richie Towell goal secured the double for Dundalk.
He’s a native of Dundalk and his job took him to Dublin some 35 years ago after a spell in Donegal.
He spent a few years with Grange Abbey before moving on to Daly United or Celtic Park.
He’s been with Park for 30 years ‘through thick and thin’ as he says.
At 19 he had trials with Aberdeen
and Drogheda but work commitments halted his progress somewhat in the game.
You look at kids of 18 and 19 hanging up their boots and you wonder.
There’s Aidan though within touching distance of a bus pass and he’s still plugging away.

Will Ely still need Lennon when he’s 64 or 65?
So I went over to the other side of the pitch and was nabbed by Pat Kavanagh.
He asked me to give a mention to Michael Lennon who turns 50 at the weekend.
Sure he’s only a youngfella! Happy 50th though Michael from all your mates at Ely/Woodlawn.

Don’t forget folks a big EGM at headquarters next Monday evening regarding summer football.
The meeting begins at 7.45 pm and all interested parties are asked to attend. It’s a meeting well worth attending.
