🔵🔴Match Report:🔵🔴

RDFL Division 2

Cloonfad United “B” 4 - 3 St Cuan’s Utd

Our Senior men faced more than just the opposition yesterday morning, battling a brutal opening half in horrendous weather conditions. Despite the elements, the lads started with intensity but luck was simply not on our side in the early stages as we struck the post twice, coming inches away from an early lead. The Cloonfad keeper was also forced into a "super stop" to keep us at bay. Against the run of play, Cloonfad took the lead on 16 minutes after a handball in the box resulted in a converted penalty.

The Seniors didn't let their heads drop. On 22 minutes, Darrell Finn found the breakthrough we deserved, pulling us level with a well-taken goal. Shortly after the equalizer, the referee was forced to halt play as the weather conditions became temporarily unplayable. Upon the restart, we continued to pile on the pressure, though the score remained 1-1 heading into the break.

The second half saw the wind shift in Cloonfad's favor, and the hosts took full advantage, scoring twice in the opening minutes of the restart to go 3-1 up.

Showing immense character in the "horrendous" conditions, St Cuan’s dug deep. Patrick Mongan struck back in the 52nd minute to keep us in the hunt. Cloonfad managed to extend their lead again ten minutes from time, but the Seniors refused to quit. Patrick Mongan Jr. found the net in the 84th.

The final moments were heart-wrenching, the lads threw everything forward, and Jayden May was incredibly unlucky not to grab a last-gasp equalizer in the dying minutes.

Summary:
While the 4-3 result didn't go our way, we had some big positives, scoring twice against a brutal wind in the second half showed the grit and determination in this squad. They battled right up until the final whistle in a game that could have easily gone the other way on another day.

St Cuan’s Scorers:
⚽️ Darrell Finn (22')
⚽️ Patrick Mongan (52')
⚽️ Patrick Mongan Jr. (84')

A big shout‑out and thank you to Wayne Braithwaite at Bluebird Telco Services LTD - super professional, helpful, and made the whole process really easy.

🌼 St. Cuans Utd — March 2026 Newsletter 🌼

📌 Grant & Funding Update
From September 2024 to August 2025, the cost of running our club was just over €25,000. These essential expenses were covered by a number of fundraising efforts throughout the year.

We are now in the process of enhancing our club facilities with:
• A new lawnmower
• Storage shed
• 2 adult goals
• 2 juvenile goals
• 2 dugouts

These items are funded entirely through the Sports Fund Grant, but there’s a challenge:
➡️ We cannot draw down the grant until all items are paid for upfront.
➡️ The club does not currently have the funds to purchase them outright.

To bridge this gap, we are pursuing financial support from Clann Credo, who provide community loans to sports clubs nationwide. Once approved, we will purchase the required equipment, draw down the grant, and fully repay the loan.

🔹 It’s important to note:
Not a single cent of the grant will go toward day-to-day club running costs.
In fact, with new facilities come new ongoing expenses—insurance, security cameras, alarms, and more. That’s why local support for all fundraising efforts is absolutely vital to keep our club thriving.

Join us for our annual Registration Morning:

🎟️ Future of Our 50/50 Draw
Our 50/50 Draw continues to be a lifeline for the day to day running of St. Cuans Utd. Without the support of this monthly draw, the club simply cannot operate at its current level.

As part of this year’s registration process, we will be asking all parents and members to subscribe online to participate in the monthly draw.

Your contribution here directly supports coaching, equipment, facilities, utilities, and the many unseen costs of keeping the club active and accessible to all.

🔵🔴RDFL Division 2 Senior Men's Match Result🔵🔴

Our senior men continued their good run of form today with a very good victory against a good Castlerea Celtic B team in Lecarrow today .

It was a very evenly matched contest throughout the 90mins . But a goal from Liam O'connor after 20mins and two well taken late goals from Pat Mongan secured a vital three points for the saints... well done to all involved!!!
