Falconry Ireland is owned and operated by Darragh Brennan who established it in it's present location, on the Killoran Family's farm in Killahurler Co Wicklow on his return from East Africa in 2003. Darragh had lived in Kenya from 1980 till his return to Ireland, having set up Falconry of Kenya in 1981 and ran it with the help of Major
Aussie Walker and Harry Wanderi tlii 1999. Falconry of Kenya
was comprised of a Falconry Centre, including a bar and restaurant together with a safari business and a tented adventure camp on the banks of the Sabaki River. This camp provided a wonderfull opportunity to fly and hunt with a variety of birds of prey in the African bush
For the last 2 years of his time in Africa , Darragh ran Saker Safaris at Lake Bogoria in the Rift Valley, which is one of the most unspoilt and beautifull areas left in Kenya
Falconry Ireland's focus is to keep the methods and practice of the oldest of field sports alive and to practice the Art of Falconry in the traditional manner, employing techniques which goe back hundreds of years together with modern technology and to apply up to date ideas on welfare and conservation. Our activities are designed to give our guests an insight into the sport of falconry together with the thrill of flying their own hawk in natural and beautifull surroundings and experiencing it returning to their gloved fist on command. Our hawks are flown every day for exercise and hunted at their natural prey on a regular basis, therefore we do not open to the public
but take visitors out on our various activities by private bookings only. Some of the bird of prey species you may encounter during the course of your activity at Falconry Ireland. Ferruginous Buzzard
