⛵️ Club Opening & Frozen North Challenge this weekend ⛵️

🌞 Saturday 18th April - Club Opening 🌞

We’re very excited to be opening up the club for the summer season next weekend!

We’d be delighted if members could join us from 10am to help unpack boats, dust off cobwebs and catch up over a cuppa.

Our Frozen North Challenge is a great event to get into racing. Free entry and all welcome! See poster for details…

A reminder also that membership is now due for the 2026 season. Gate and padlock codes will be changed next weekend, new codes will be sent out via Member Mojo*:

⛵️ Reminder - February social sailing TOMORROW ⛵️

Come along tomorrow, Sunday 8th February, for a sail and/or a cuppa from 1pm-4pm.

Forecast is looking slightly milder at around 7°C with very light winds. There might even be a spot of sunshine in the afternoon after a bit of a damp morning.

Looking forward to catching up with those who can make it! 🌞 🌬️🌧️

A reminder that this month’s social sailing is on this Sunday, 8th February. Weather permitting the safety boat will be launched for 1pm.

It would be great to see members out on the water or in the club house for a cuppa and a catch up. ⛵️🌞❄️

Anyone interested in joining this upcoming season is welcome to pop along and chat with committee members about what’s on offer and have a look around 😁

⚠️ Sunday Social Sailing Postponed⚠️

We’re sorry to say that due to both the recent snow (the car park is inaccessible, large amounts of snow from the ploughs are blocking access) and a poor forecast for Sunday, we’ve decided to postpone Sunday’s Social Gathering. We’re hoping to meet again before the end of the month, and will be in touch when a plan is formed. ⛵️ 🌬️

Firstly, Happy New Year to you all!

Your minds are probably far from sailing at the moment with all this beautiful snowy weather but we have a few things planned at the club this month…

To encourage even more activities at our wee club throughout the year, we’re running our inaugural “On the Water” Challenge. See the poster for details. We’d love to have lots of participants!

We are holding our first Sunday Social Sailing at the club next Sunday 11th January from noon - 4pm. Come along, take out your own or a club boat (tick off January for the “On the Water” Challenge!) or just have a cuppa and catch up with friends. We’d love to see you there!

⛵️ Open Regatta Results 2025 ⛵️

Six boats braved the mega gusts yesterday with some fantastic racing! We managed 4 races in total. There was lots of shoreside support as probably about the same number of boats again decided it was a bit too breezy.

We couldn’t have done it without the volunteers - thank you very much safety boat drivers, race officers, caterers, cooks and bakers. Thank you also to those who travelled from other clubs, it was great to welcome you all!

We had around 35 members enjoying beautiful summer sailing at our July Social Sailing last weekend 🌞 There was a mix of no wind to enough wind to beautifully fly a Laser 2000 spinnaker with a good mix of club & member boats afloat, some practicing their capsize drills and lots of swimming. Thank you very much to Diana and Fiona for safety boat driving and to Shona for cooking the sausages. 😋

We look forward to welcoming everyone to our Annual Regatta on Saturday 9th August and Social Sail on Sunday 10th August. ⛵️ 🌞 🌬️

These fantastic new benches have been made for us by the Grantown on Spey Men’s Shed in celebration of Fynn Sterritt’s Olympic achievements.

As a teenager in the British Sailing Team, Fynn was asked during an interview “how could the sailing club be improved?” And he responded something along the lines of “warm showers and a nice place for parents to sit and watch us on the water” So, sorry Fynn - we couldn’t get you warm showers but we hope everyone enjoys sitting at these lovely new benches 😂🤩

We look forward to welcoming Fynn to the club soon for a seat and a sail.

Thank you to Simon for organising their construction and delivering them to the club.

⛵️ Reminder - Sunday Social Sailing TOMORROW ⛵️

Really looking forward to welcoming lots of you to the club tomorrow for members Social Sailing.

Our instructors Kian and Robyn will be on hand to provide tuition for all ages and stages.

It’s a loose plan, but we envisage instructor led sessions of about an hour each from 12:30-1:30, 2–3, 3:30-4:30. This is very flexible, we’ll adapt depending on numbers, weather, and so on.

There will also be general safety boat cover, so if you just want to go for a sail with the reassurance of a rescue boat then that’s also very much welcome and encouraged.

We have a few bits of kit that can be borrowed: a good number of kids life jackets, a few men’s adult wetsuits, etc.

The BBQ will be stocked with sausages for all to share. Any other treats to add to the communal pot will be very much appreciated.

Any questions, please give me a shout. Look forward to catching up with lots of you tomorrow. 🌞⛵️
