This April, the SEN Support Services and Integrated Centre for Wellbeing (I-WELL) organised a 7 day international study visit at Karaganda Buketov University, Kazakhstan. Our group was incredibly diverse—bringing together students from different majors, cultural backgrounds, and learning needs, including students with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Through seminars, school visits, and cultural experiences, participants explored how different countries support students with SEN — while building lasting cross cultural connections. 🤝📚 Students who participated in the programme supported one another, learned from one another, and grew together in a truly inclusive environment. 💛
One participant with SEN shared:
“Throughout the trip, I was surrounded by supportive peers and staff who encouraged me and helped me fully participate in every activity. Their support helped me realise that my disability does not define my abilities or limit my participation. Seeing others confidently embrace who they are inspired me to develop a more positive and accepting perspective toward my own experiences.”
This trip proved that when students support each other unconditionally, barriers disappear and real learning takes place.🌱
This is what inclusion looks like in action.
This is where real growth begins.
