During their holiday, the three coaches of Shoshikan travelled to Okinawa not only to train in Kobudo and earn their third-dan certificates, but also to seize the opportunity to learn the Maeda-bō technique from Master Kyan. This distinctive style of staff fighting requires no brute force; instead, it emphasises smooth, flowing, and uninterrupted movements, with the staff following the body's motion. As they swung, the whistling sound of the staff cut through the air, creating a rhythmic elegance. Though it was their first exposure to the art, the three coaches were praised by Master Kyan for their exceptional learning ability. Yet they remain humble and continue to train diligently and quietly back in Hong Kong. What moved us most was Master Kyan himself—despite his physical limitations, he promotes this staff art with unwavering determination, fearing that it might be lost to time. His devotion and selfless spirit command our deepest respect.
