RacingThePlanet is a unique series of ultramarathons set in the most stunning and culturally rich places in the world. The five annual foot races consist of the 4 Deserts Ultramarathon Series including the Atacama Crossing (Chile), the Gobi March (Mongolia), the Namib Race (Namibia), The Last Desert (Antarctica). In addition, a fifth "roving race" moves to a new location each year -- past locations have included: Vietnam, Namibia, Australia, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, Madagascar, Iceland, Nepal, Jordan, Patagonia, New Zealand, Georgia and Lapland.

> Each foot race takes place over seven days and 250 kilometers / 155 miles.
> Competitors are safely supported by professional medical and operations teams.
> Athletes carry their safety pack, food and gear along a marked yet out of this world course each day from camp to camp.
> RacingThePlanet is an international community where each race typically includes 100-250 competitors representing 40 countries. 2026 was a year for RacingThePlanet history, with Elise Lagerstrom 🇺🇸 becoming the first woman to win a race overall at the Gobi March (Mongolia). Who's feeling inspired to break into the record books?

For those speedsters who aspire to soar onto the record holders page in 2027, here is your opportunity! Current records to beat are below. You can visit the full RacingThePlanet records page on our website!

Atacama Crossing:
The Atacama Crossing begins 4 April 2027, the next chance to beat the UK's Rob Forbes' 🇬🇧 (AKA Bilbo Baggins) record from 2022 at 21:20:46 overall time. Anne-Marie Flammersfeld 🇩🇪 of Germany has held the women's Atacama Crossing record for an incredible 14 years, finishing 29:43:53 in 2012.

Gobi March:
The next Gobi March begins 20 June 2027.
Hong Kong's Wong Ho Chung 🇭🇰 holds the Gobi March overall record with a very speedy time of 20:34:08, set in 2018. Angela Zaeh 🇩🇪 of Germany, also in 2018, set the women's record of 25:10:30.

If you wish to be a record holder but don't feel up to the task of beating speed records, don't worry! There are still records such as most completed races (Karen Wei 🇨🇦 🇭🇰 with 16 and Ash Mokhtari 🇨🇦 🇮🇷 with 26!!!). Particularly impressive or unusual achievements are also open to submission into the annals of RacingThePlanet History on a case by case basis.

Fancy a day at the beach? Competitors at RacingThePlanet: Brazil / UltraLite (Brazil) will have the chance to take some respite from the long days of the race at campsites like this one, a spectacular spot for some rest or a refreshing swim. Sometimes the camp can be as incredible as the course! It's all part of the Brazil experience, coming up in 2027.

There's something special about camping in Mongolia. From nights spent near ancient fortresses, petroglyph rocks, sleeping in traditional gers and lounging in fresh Mongolian streams, camps during the Gobi March / UltraLite (Mongolia) get competitors a little closer to understanding the nomadic way of life. There's freedom in being unbound to one place, and each day brings a new set of surroundings, with the only consistent thing being the friends you share the week with!
