Between the 1991 and 1993 seasons, Bayern Munich hit a disastrous low point in one campaign before bouncing back the next year as genuine title contenders. Due to the unification of East and West Germany, the Bundesliga that season was expanded to 20 teams, meaning 38 matches in total. Bayern Munich struggled badly: they went through three managers but still couldn’t steady their form. They eventually finished 10th, just five points above the relegation zone—their worst league finish since 1977–78.

In 1992–93, Matthäus returned and Bayern’s performances improved dramatically. They looked much stronger throughout the league season and spent much of it in first place. However, they ultimately fell short at the final hurdle, losing the title to Werder Bremen by just one point, and had to settle for second place in the Bundesliga.

The 1998 FIFA World Cup was the 16th edition of the FIFA World Cup. It was held in France from June 10 to July 12. For the first time, the tournament expanded the number of participating teams to 32. In the final, the host nation, France, won 3–0 against the defending champions, Brazil. Zinedine Zidane scored two headers, and Emmanuel Petit added the third goal, giving France its first World Cup title in history.

As the linchpin of England’s midfield, he drove the Three Lions at Wembley Stadium to the semifinals, delivering one of the most classic goals and celebrations in football history. In the semifinal against Germany, during extra time, Gascoigne was almost able to rise at the near post to meet a cross and win the game with a dramatic, match-ending finish—only to miss the ball by a hair’s breadth. England ultimately went out after being eliminated by Germany in the penalty shootout.

英國球星公仔品牌Corinthian，為首次打入1998年法國世界盃的日本代表隊，推出了一套4盒，每盒4款，共16款代表隊球員公仔。

由主教練岡田武史領軍，日本歷史性地打入1998年法國世界盃決賽週。雖然在分組賽 H 組中以三戰全敗（0-1負阿根廷、0-1負克羅地亞、1-2負牙買加）出局，但這屆賽事誕生了無數經典。當中包括前鋒中山雅史在對陣牙買加時，射入了日本史上第一個世界盃決賽週入球；而當年僅 21 歲、一頭金髮的中場核心中田英寿更是憑藉此舞台一戰成名，賽後隨即展開其輝煌的旅歐生涯。

而在亞洲區外圍賽立下汗馬功勞的日本國寶級靈魂人物三浦知良，在最後前往法國前，與北澤豪一同意外被主教練岡田武史剔除出最終名單，在當時的日本國內引發極大震撼。

Corinthian— the collectible-figure brand— released a special set for the first time a Japanese national team ever reached the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France. The lineup comes in 4 boxes, with 4 figures per box,making 16 players in total.

Led by head coach Takeshi Okada, Japan made history by qualifying for the 1998 World Cup finals. Even though they finished bottom of Group H after three straight defeats—0–1 vs Argentina, 0–1 vs Croatia, and 1–2 vs Jamaica—the tournament still delivered unforgettable moments.

Among the highlights was striker Masashi Nakayama, who scored in Japan’s first-ever World Cup finals appearance goal—netting his side’s breakthrough against Jamaica. And then there was Hidetoshi Nakata: just 21 years old, with his signature blond hair, he rose to fame on that very stage and quickly kicked off a legendary career across Europe.

Before Japan headed to France, another national icon—Kazuyoshi Miura— had played a major role in the Asian qualifying campaign. But right before the trip, Kazu was shockingly left out of the final squad by Okada, along with Tsuyoshi Kitazawa. The decision sent shockwaves across Japan.
